I am looking forward to tutoring students and assisting in their educational progress in the Dallas area. I have worked in the suburbs of Chicago and Austin. I look forward to the rewarding and enjoyable time spent in educational pursuits with my future students.
Elementary Education is my forte. I also am licensed for learning disabilities. I developed the Developmental First Grade Program for the State of Illinois and had great success with the programs. My teaching style is very enthusiastic. I make learning intriguing. I also assist my students in moving toward success and feeling confident about themselves. I am patient and encouraging at all times. I like to attend to the needs and the strengths of students at the same time, building upon each.
Conversation is very important in my teaching style, I always want to keep the student involved and participating as a doer, and an achiever. I also am committed to having something very successful take place by the student at the end of every session so he/she leaves with an upbeat, "I did it, I can do it" feeling and belief. The development of the whole student is always on my agenda. I use materials that are subject and age appropriate, and school district approved. I also prefer teacher input so I can better track my students. I give updates to parents regularly. I have a very holistic approach in educating and working with my students. I do have references. I look forward to many wonderful and successful student/tutor relationships! I am looking forward to tutoring students and assisting in their educational progress in the Dallas area. My son was very pleased with his session with Claudia. He felt like he was going to learn techniques that would help him. I was excited about Claudia's approach to teaching my son and working with his focusing issues.
It is always a pleasure to receive good feedback. And working with your son is a pleasure also!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified teacher in the state of Illinois, K-9. I am also certified for teaching Learning Disabilities, and had 3 years teaching experience in LD classrooms. I have tutored foreign students of all ages.
I taught first grade for four years.
I am presently enjoying the tutoring, and having good results, which is quite rewarding.
I have been a successful painter for many years. I have had several successful one woman shows, I had my own art gallery and studio on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, two of my paintings have been hung in public institutions, and I have created art for a calendar cover and note cards that have been sold nationally. I have taught private art classes to children and adults. I studied art as a student at Elmhurst College, I have also studied under successful artists by attending seminars and private art lessons. I have also attended drawing classes at the Art Institute of Chicago.
I have taught phonics to First Graders and thouroughly enjoy it. I have also taught Phonics to LD students and brought their reading levels to grade level and above. Something that was thought "undoable". I use many methods with my Phonics teaching, according to the individuals needs.
Spelling is definitely a subject that can be handled successfully, with the correct training. It is a subject that every single student can have success in. Passing a spelling test is a real confidence booster during the school week. It also helps when writing papers.
