University of North Carolina
My name is Russell, and I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina physics department. I have taught high school algebra (levels 1 and 2) for two years and have recently taken up a job with a chemical engineering company. Looking to make extra money on the side (I am headed back to school in the fall of '12), I would love to help you get better at math and science. Whether you are struggling to understand the concepts on which the quizzes and tests are based, or if you are on the borderline of a preferential letter grade and want to seal the deal, I can help you.
My strengths are in the applied sciences (physics and chemistry) and math (up to and including calculus). If you feel like my help would be beneficial to you in any of these subjects, please don't hesitate to contact me. This is not the first time I've tutored, and, if you like, I would be happy to provide you with references of students that I have helped in the past (both here in the Metroplex, and in my home state of Florida). Thank you in advance for your consideration, and I wish you the best. My name is Russell, and I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina physics department. After a tutoring session with Russell, my daughter was happy and had relief. She said she was ready for her week in algebra 2 * I could tell the stress of not understanding the chapter's concept had been lifted. Russell was patient and stayed at our home until she understood the concept that they were working on. Also, Russell was very quick to respond to our tutor request which helped our daughter out with a retest.
Russell is a very able tutor, patient, understanding, and knowledgeable of the subject matter. Russell is a delight to work with and learn from.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide. A firm foundation in the basics of arithmetic as well as concepts such as rounding, fractions, and decimals is imperative for future success in mathematics.
I can help your son or daughter excel in these areas and prepare him/her for future math subjects like algebra and geometry.
Playing the guitar is very fun, but takes practice and dedication. I have been playing for 18 years, and will show you everything you need to know to become proficient on your own. From beginners' basics such as tuning, changing strings, and major chords and scales, to more advanced techniques such as soloing, hybrid picking, arpeggios, and more.
My main influence is rock and roll, from The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin, through the Pearl Jam, Radiohead, and Stone Temple Pilots grunge rock years, all the way to current favorites such as Cage the Elephant, Matt and Kim, and Vampire Weekend.
If this style of music is one with which you can identify, we will be a good fit for each other.
