I'm Charles and I love helping people learn stuff. I taught high school Spanish for 7 years and also speak French (My dad's a native speaker). I have a degree in Foreign Language (Spanish and French) and Political Science. I am currently in school for Bible and Linguistics. I love history and geography, especially how it relates to America and its government. Anything I teach I try to tie in to something you already know - application is the key. If there's anything I can help you learn more about, please feel free to sign up for a session.

He was very knowledgeable and has a great personality. My daughter loved her 1st session and is looking forward to the next one. I was amazed of how familiar he was with the Spanish book she uses for class. I believe my prayers have been answered. He quizzed my daughter to assess what she already knows. He helped her with her homework. Then he reviewed some of her vocabulary words with her and gave her tips on how to study and remember certain phrases and words. He talked about when to use certain words. We are so excited!
This is one of the best decisions I have made regarding my daughter's education this year. I was very concerned because of the aggressive schedule my daughter had this year. She is a student at a magnet college prep school and this year she had 3 AP classes as well as Pre-calc and Physics. Charles has made a major impact. I am very pleased. He is very patient, is willing to explain subjects at the level that my daughter needs. He is also a very caring person, concerned not only about my daughter's grades but concerned about her as a person. This is very admirable in the society we live. Thank you Wyzant!
Charles was very precise, easy to talk to and understood what I needed help with. He knew what he was doing and how to get it across to where I understood it well. I plan on booking him for a near date in the future.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a follower of Christ for over 20 years and have regularly attended a Baptist church for that long. for the last 4 years I have also regularly attended a Spanish-speaking Presbyterian church. During this time I have never limited myself to mere Sunday morning attendance and for much of it have studied the Bible in discipleship training classes, university courses, and personal study of the Bible and the Biblical world. I currently teach AWANAs. In highschool I had friends of various denominations with whom I discussed theology and practice. In college I expanded discussions to friends from different religions. I have worshiped in Baptist, Presbyterian, Catholic, Anglican, Episcopalian, Church of God, Church of Christ, Assembly of God and independent churches, a Kingdom Hall, and a Mosque.
My goal is to be a Bible translator. As such I am currently enrolled in seminary courses and will persue a Master's Degree in Linguistics with heavy studies in the Bible. I have taken courses in the New Testament, The Biblical World (Archaeology, History, and Geography), and Koine Greek.
I taught High School Spanish for seven years, have been on multiple mission trips, worked cross-culturally extensively, and have translated professionally in medical, legal, and church-related fields.
