My name is Dylan and I hold a Master's Degree from one of the nation’s top-5 humanities programs at Duke University, where I conducted my own research and was a tutor in both a university and private capacity – totaling well over a 1000 hours of experience .

I have received numerous awards for my scholarship and research. As an undergraduate, I received the American Institute for Foreign Study Scholarship, which permitted me to study abroad. I was also an Independent Undergraduate Researcher for the Carnegie Mellon Foundation, culminating in my Honors Thesis exploring cognitive science, the hard problem of consciousness, and recent advances in continental phenomenology.

I continued this research in graduate school where I was a Deans' Summer Fellow and was invited to the Mind and Life Summer Research Institute, an arm of the Dalai Lama’s dialogues with Western Scientists and Scholars, where I presented research on Social Emotional Learning and Education.

The hallmark of my education has always been the liberal arts – the quest for well-roundedness through familiarity with the entirety of the Arts and Sciences.

This passion gives me a breadth and depth of expertise in the Humanities Subjects, including — AP World History, AP Human Geography, and AP US History; Writing, College Essays, Research Papers, Thesis, and Dissertations; Sociology and Philosophy. I’m also deeply passionate and knowledgeable about World Religions, including Christianity, Buddhism, and Hinduism.

I also offer unique expertise as an Executive Functioning Tutor and Research Assistant, where I offer specialized support that extends well beyond the conventional tutoring realm.

American History

AP US HIstory tends to be one of High School's Big Challenges -- but never fear! Each year, I walk dozens of students through one or two semester of course work, and help them prepare for their big exam. I offer week-to-week reading and concept support, preparation for the AP test, and teach study skills along the way. I can help boost your grades and confidence, all the while instilling a love for history.
College Counseling

College Counseling

Writing a high-quality essay can make or break your admissions, and can even make up for poor grades and test scores. As a successful applicant to some of the country's top schools -- including Duke, the University of Chicago, and UMich -- I know what an elite essay looks like. I can walk your student and family step by step through the writing process to create a unique and memorable piece of writing. My students have been admitted to UC Berkeley, NYU, UChicago, Columbia, and more!
Debate

Debate

I've been practicing debate since I was 15! In high school, I did both normal format and Lincoln-Douglas style, which explores more abstract and philosophical questions. In college, I completed in competitions all over the country. I can teach you the basics of debate, how to prepare an argument, and how to respond.

Philosophy

Philosophy

I spent the last five years as an executive functioning coach and support, helping students maximize their potential through organization, time management, and goal settings. I've learned that student success rarely has to do with intelligence or ability, and has everything to do with getting organized and motivated! Whether you are a high school, college, or graduate school, I can help you prioritize your work, stay on track, and utilize all of your potential.
Sociology

Sociology

I hold a double major degree in Sociology and Literature from the University of Michigan. As a student at Duke's graduate school in Literature with a special focus on Critical Theory, I've studied the theories and methods of Sociology. I can assist you with either class material and readings, or show you the process of producing a high-quality Sociology research paper. Whichever you need help with, I enjoy tutoring students over a long period to see them grow!
Study Skills

Study Skills

As an Executive Functioning Tutor with a background in conducting MA research at Duke University focused on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and metacognition, my expertise lies at the intersection of cognitive development and educational psychology. My research experience has provided me with in-depth knowledge of how SEL and metacognitive strategies can significantly impact students' executive functioning skills, academic performance, and overall well-being. With a proven track record of implementing evidence-based practices, I have successfully guided numerous students in enhancing their executive functioning abilities, fostering improved organization, time management, and problem-solving skills. My passion for equipping individuals with the tools they need to excel academically and thrive personally makes me a valuable resource for those seeking to strengthen their executive functioning skills.

Helpful and Knowledgable

Dylan is so supportive and has a lot of advice to bring to the table at every session he has been working with me. He also leaves the last few minutes and makes sure my questions are answered before the lesson ends. I do strongly suggest this tutor if anyone wants further support in tutoring services.
