Lonestar Community College (Business Admin)
I am a single mom of a 16 year old high school student. I enjoy learning and sharing what I have learned. I am currently pursuing my degree in business law; I have certifications in business management, human resources and marketing. I have been a nanny part time for the past 6 years and am always helping my two (nanny) children pursue their educational ambitions. I enjoy helping individuals realize their full potential. English is my favorite subject, so I truly enjoy helping others to appreciate it. I have 6 years experience helping children with ADHD and Autism. I love a new challenge and love to learn something new everyday.
As a current college student, I excel in all of my classes carrying a 3.4 GPA or higher at all times. I am a Phi Theta Kappa member and have been on the President's List for more than two years. I have accomplished all of these achievements while working full time and taking care of my daughter. All of my friends and associates recognize my drive and ambition; I am often teased and called "superwoman". I have understood from the very beginning that I truly enjoy working with children and young adults. I believe they still have passion, ambition and let that inner drive guide them through those early years. They are much more excited about learning and easy to work with.
As a stubborn and opinionated child, I have grown into an adult with a unique perspective. I believe that when you fully grasp and understand what you're reading and learning, only then can you begin to realize your full potential. This style of learning and coaching is what has helped me over the years. As a young adult in my early college years, I would often get picked by my classmates for study sessions. The funny thing is that they came into the situation thinking that I would do all the work simply because they felt that I was one of the smart kids. After some deliberation and reassurance, they were able to fully realize their potential and often thanked me afterwards. They were able to apply what I had shown them and actually do the work on their own. The results were a great grade and another student feeling more than accomplished with their achievement. I look forward to being able to help your student with just that. I truly enjoy English and have listed my specialties below: ACT/SAT English, Composition & Rhetoric, English Grammar, Literature, Writing, Spelling, Literary Analysis, Reading comprehension and Annotation. I am extremely excited to help you learn. My goal is to help you gain an appreciation and full understanding of your trouble areas. I am flexible and love kids. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
