My name is Nathaniel Green. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Texas Southern University. Early in my career, I taught elementary school in HISD, and worked as a Vocational Guidance Counselor and Instructor for Vocational Guidance Service. Both of these positions provided me the opportunity to work with youth between grades K-12 in various capacities. For instance, I worked with parents, teachers, and Harris County Juvenile Department. My primary role was to help students learn the value of staying in school, and that education is one of the best avenues to success in life.
Later in my professional career, I served as the Director of Human Resources for Texas A&M University (Engineering Experiment Station); Director of Human Resources for the City of Webster; and as the Chief Human Resources Officer for the Houston Food Bank. All of these positions allowed me to develop staff training programs that ensured these organizations were able to attract and retain talented young adults.
My tutoring approach is based on developing an individualized and systematic structured learning experience that is tailored to the student’s specific learning and development needs. To accomplish this, I will develop a tutoring program that begins with consulting with the key stakeholders who will contribute to and benefit from the program. These individuals (stakeholders) might include some administrators, subject area specialists, parents, and teachers from the school system.
I understand that the student and stakeholders may be busy and scheduling sessions will require flexibility. This is why I will be flexible and willing to work with students and stakeholders when planning sessions. In the end, my desire is to establish a supportive relationship with the students by being open and honest with them. Ultimately, as a Tutor, I want to share my education and work experiences with students in a way that makes a positive difference in both your lives.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
