I'm Tiffany! In 2013, I graduated from Texas Tech University with my B.S. in Multi-disciplinary Studies and Elementary Education while specializing in Special Education. After completing my Bachelors, I began teaching middle school level Lifeskills, which consisted of students with different disabilities such as autism, down syndrome, intellectual disability, and students who were blind and/or non-verbal. Within my Lifeskills class, I also worked with students who had deficits in social and communication skills as well as students who had weaknesses in demonstrating appropriate behavior. I taught the middle school level for three years and then decided to begin working on my Master's. I graduated from UTRGV in December of 2015 with my Master's of Education specializing in Special Education. The course work focused on various disabilities, but mostly autism.

August of 2015, I went to teach elementary-aged students who are anywhere from 4 years old to 8 years of age and my class is called RISE (Reaching Independence through Structured Environments), which is a program designed for students who have severe autism and deficits in communication, socialization, and behavior. This is my second year teaching RISE and it is a very rewarding class to teach. I utilize the VB-MAPP to create my students' IEP goals and we focus on filling in possible gaps that each student has; each of my students have different goals and there isn't any two students that have the same goal to be worked on as they are each different from one another and have different strengths. Differentiated instruction becomes a great tool when working in my classroom.

I have a 12 and 7 year old who I help with math on a regular basis when school is finished for the day. Math is one of my favorites because there's so many different ways to teach one how to comprehend and complete math problems. Being a special education teacher, I believe I have great strength in differentiated instruction, which helps me to teach difficult math problems to help child better comprehend and retain the material being taught.

While I have never taught sign language, I am fluent in English Sign Language, which is what is used to sign each word within sentences rather than American Sign Language. I also teach my students sign language to enhance their ability to become independent by providing them a way to communicate their wants and needs.

I am very knowledgable in working with students who have autism and/or other significant disabilities. I attend several trainings per year to continue my education and am currently in the process of taking online trainings to obtain my ABA certification as well.

I look forward to working with your child! Contact me through Wyzant so we can figure out what schedule works best for the both of us. Don't hesitate to also give me areas you are wanting to be worked on so I am able to plan ahead and create lessons and/or bring teaching manipulatives as needed.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been teaching for 5 years, 3 years 6th-8th grade Special Education and the past 2 years at an elementary school for grades Kinder through 2nd grade. While I am a Special Education teacher, I do assist students in the general ed. setting with assignments that they may have difficulties with. If the content is not something I am familiar with, I do my research and learn how to teach the material effectively to help benefit the student.
