I am a retired high school teacher where I taught all subjects to students in regular education as well as special education. My degree is a BS in Math with a minor in Physics. As a Content Mastery teacher, I assisted students in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and Math Models. I also tutored in Physics, IPC and some in Chemistry. In addition, I also assist students in English and Social studies. While I tutor in many subjects, much of my time is spent in Math and Science.
Much of my time as a WyzAnt tutor has been directed at Algebra, Geometry and SAT Math tutoring.
I have developed general purpose short study courses in Study Skills, Note Taking Skills and Grade Improvement. I make these independent study courses available to my students at no charge. Also, I have developed online study courses in Algebra I, Geometry, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Grammar. These courses can be made available as well.
In addition to teaching, I am active in special education activities to include ARD meetings, establishing IEP's and intervention for students failing classes. Additionally, I administer credit recovery for students.
My teaching experience includes nine years where I am certified in Special Ed grades K-12. Prior to teaching, I worked in roles in the technologies of computers and telecommunications. Jerry really helps my daughter understand the basic concepts of algebra. He explains things on a level that she is able to understand.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
