I am currently a student at the University of Texas at Dallas and I am pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering. Throughout my educational experience, I have learned many things in terms of how teachers and professors interact with the student, making the overall learning experience engaging and interactive. This observation was further clarified as I became a tutor in Mathnasium, allowing me to define certain values as a teacher. One of the most important things that I learned as a math tutor was that communicating with the student in a simple manner is most effective when trying to convey a concept or topic. I learned best when the teacher or professor taught the concept in plain English while adapting to the students’ best learning style. Not only was it easy to understand but the students can apply what they learned to various topics. I primarily try to learn from my experiences as a tutor and as a student and use it to effectively teach the topics to the students.

In terms of experience, I worked at Mathnasium as an Instructor for more than a year, primarily specializing in teaching math to students in all age groups. I have earned an instructor of the month award and an instructor of the quarter award while I was working at Mathnasium. I am comfortable teaching math concepts ranging from basic arithmetic to calculus concepts. I also volunteered for the Maruthi Vijayaganapathi tutoring service in India to teach Math to children who are financially disadvantaged. During the one-hour session, I graded homework, taught/clarified various topics, and assigned homework problems.

As a math instructor at Mathnasium, I primarily specialized in teaching math to students in all age groups. As an instructor, I worked 1 on 1 directly with the students and taught up to 4 students at a time. This experience has provided me an understanding of the work environment as well as provided me the experience of professionalism.
