About Theresa

Hello, Prospective Students, my name is Theresa and I'm hoping to help children in their areas of need when it comes to education. I am very patient when it comes to dealing with children and can guarantee that I know different ways to get a concept to remain in their minds. I also am creative when it comes to finding new methods of teaching, especially in math, because I believe that in order to have breakthrough with different students, you have to know how to reach each student in a way that's beneficial to the individual.

I would like to share a bit about myself. I graduated with a B.A. from Creighton University and I love to read and write, as well as playing tennis.

I am very experienced in teaching students no matter what age they are. I have experience in this from working at Creighton University's Education Opportunity Center. I was able to tutor adults wanting to get their GED. I also have some background working with Wyzant for a couple years now.

I look forward to working with your child and helping him or her learn different ways to encounter problems that they may have in schoolwork, or helping students transition to the next year. Thank you for reading through my profile.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Dyslexia

I believe I am qualified to tutor dyslexic children because I know different ways to get a point across. I am qualified because I used to work with Dyslexic children and ADHD children in my high school in an after school program. I have the tools necessary to keep them focused and encouraged to learn more, which is an avid part in getting through to students in this field. I believe I will be a great asset because of what I have to bring to the table.

Elementary Math

I have the patience when it comes to teaching Elementary kids. Especially if the subject is deemed challenging. I have the skills that are needed in order to help your child understand. Not only will we work on homework but we will also work on additional worksheets, and interactive games that will keep the student focused as well as entertained so he or she can gain an understanding for the subject.

GED

I believe I am qualified to tutor this area because I also tutor at my university that I go to. Creighton University has an educational opportunity Center that has GED tutors. I am a part of that institution and I know how to work with GED students and have the patience.

I am also qualified because I know different methods to getting a concept through to my students.

Reading

I am very skilled in Reading, not only teaching it but also getting someone to understand it. I scored above the commended on the reading section of TAKS since the 4th grade and I think I can help.

Spelling

I have a passion for reading, writing, and spelling! Not only did I participate in my school spelling bee every year, I also am an avid reader, which helps me know new words as well as understand the different writing styles such as Expository, Persuasive, Descriptive and Narrative. I guarantee that your child will learn Hooked on Phonics and they will incorporate it as he or she improves in spelling. I believe I am experienced in this category and I cannot wait to work with you!

Writing

I am qualified to tutor in this subject is because I have a passion for writing. I enjoy writing papers, whether it be from an essay particularly for school or to Creative Writing to pass the time. I believe I can help your child in this area because I have the passion and the drive to get your child to not only know the different writing styles, but to also know how to write a great essay in general.
