I came to Natasha around the end of my junior year in high school, in panic from my extremely low SAT score of about a 1500. Despite starting so late, she took me in and set me up for a crash course SAT curriculum. Within 8-9 weeks, Natasha took me in twice a week for two hours each session. She focused on Math and Writing during this time and I was able to improve my score over 300 points. I came back to her afterwards to work on the Reading section of the exam, only to see even more of an improvement. She always told me that "practice does not make perfect, but perfect practice makes perfect" and how to tackle the SAT. Her methods are always positive and are always motivating. The tutoring experience is very personal and her classroom set is up comfortable and very up to date. Her use of technology incorporates technology that makes learning even easier. A lot of the work, however is meant to be done at home. She will teach you everything you need to know to get a perfect score on the SAT, but it is a matter of how much you apply yourself outside of the classroom. It is impossible to just show up to a few sessions and expect a rapid improvement without any effort. But with Natasha, that won't be a problem because she will assign you plenty of work! Each session, she would go over my homework and essays to personally point out where I went wrong, and how to correct my errors. When you haven't been keeping up with your work, she will notice and make sure to keep you motivated to stay on track. As a person who usually lacks the motivation to crack open some SAT practice problems, Natasha definitely leaves you walking out of her classroom motivated to get on track. Although her tutoring is in the high price range, her rate is definitely worth every penny as long as you put forth the effort.
Natasha provided tremendous help on my daughter's SAT and ACT. During this past a few months, she has demonstrated to us not only her great experience and knowledge, but also her determination and patience. She also helped on my daughter's essays for her college application. I am totally impressed by her passion and professionalism on subjects. I strongly recommend Natasha to students who are seriously wanting a perfect score or at least a few hundreds points more on their tests. Thank you Natasha.
In just over one month, Natasha was able to help our son raise his SAT writing score from 670 to 750. Natasha is organized and process oriented. She developed a plan up front and worked through the plan with our son over a short period of time. I highly recommend her for people who want results.
Natasha is a fantabulous SAT tutor. Even though I had attended other SAT prep courses before I started with her, they haven't been helping me much. However, after taking only a few classes with Natasha, I'd knew that I found the right person! She tailors the SAT course according to what best fits each student, and I think that's very important! She's very patient, helpful, and very flexible on scheduling classes. Not only was I able to improve my score significantly in both reading and writing, but I also gained confidence in my SAT skills to tackle these challenging problems. I think what sets her apart from the other SAT tutors is that she identifies your weakness, and gives you more practice on those areas till you become adept at approaching them. In addition, she'll give practice sections to take home to ensure that you're utilizing the right strategies. She developed her own strategy plan for tackling each verbal question, and they've been very helpful to me! I know that my major weak point was lack of confidence, and she has helped me overcome this through her own approach! She is very encouraging and motivated to help others when in need! I'm really glad that I've had her as SAT tutor thus far, as my performance on this test has been improving significantly! I would recommend her to anyone looking for a SAT or College prep tutor!
Natasha is very helpful and understanding. English is my second language yet she helped me overcome this obstacle. Grammar is my weakest area in writing but she significantly helped me improve my personal statement and taught me grammatical rules that I took into consideration in my future writing. She is fun and very lovely. I felt very comfortable talking to her with no hesitation or getting embarrassed because of my language barrier.
My daughter has been seeing Natasha for a few weeks now and the curriculum she has designed is outstanding. She specializes in knowing how to teach a child who is ADHD and my daughter LOVES her! She looks forward to every meeting with Natasha. She does not only teach the SAT prep, she cares very much about the progress of the children. It is rare to come across someone who is gifted for teaching and Natasha is definitely that one. My daughter's confidence and motivation have tremendously increased as a result of the tutoring. You would be hard pressed to find someone as passionately dedicated as Natasha!
Natasha has been an amazing!! Challenging, yet educating my son in his SAT preparation! We could not be more proud of the progress that have made with our son. We are so lucky to have found her!
Natasha was great. My son needed to raise his scores by a few points. She helped him do this. Very easy to work with and very flexible on scheduling. Thank you, Natasha!
Natasha is very helpful and knows exactly what my daughter needs to work on! She is easy to reach and flexible with schedule changes.
I cannot say enough about Natasha's program that she develops and uses with students. My son is getting significant value from the time spent here and it is a great value. We looked at other options and decided to give Natasha a try before writing a big check to one of the "known SAT prep places". That turned out to be the best idea and we are thrilled to be getting so much out of the prep sessions!!
I have been favorably impressed so far with Natasha's organizational skills and her focus on test strategies. My son has come away from the lessons with specific help and clearly understood test tools. He's had a good initial reaction to Natasha and her math assistant - and if he's feeling good about putting in the extra work AND finds it helpful, haven't we accomplished all the metrics at which we really need to look (until scores come back)?
Natasha is a wonderful teacher. She is very attentive and thorough. She helped my daughter in writing college essays. She understands the most important issues in getting good results when applying for college. She helped my daughter in finding her own voice in writing, pinpointing the most important issues of essay, editing and re-editing. I would highly recommend Natasha to high school students looking for help in applying to college.
Natasha was very helpful tutoring my son for the SAT. She was more than willing to accommodate his schedule and worked up a personal lesson plan just for him. I highly recommend her for any tutoring needs.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Approximately 40% of my current students are attention deficit and they are all referrals from former students with the same special educational needs. I have a track record of success with my special needs students simply because unlike most tutors, my College Prep Curriculum is hands-on and actively engages my students. My curriculum is taught with the aid of educational videos, power point presentations and flash card games among other tools. Such tools have consistently generated interest in my students and have kept them focused for longer periods of time. Students find themselves motivated after my classes and are determined to give tests like the SATs and ACTs their best shot!
I have worked closely with faculty and administrators affiliated with the admissions department at the University of California, Irvine. I have also attended workshops and webinars, which keep me updated on the criteria that admissions officers and deans consider highly when reviewing applications. My forte lies in admissions essay consulting. I have worked with numerous students in Asia, Europe and the US and have helped them put their best foot forward when applying to prestigious institutions such as Cambridge, the London School of Economics, NYU and UC Berekeley (among many others). I believe that the best way to express yourself in an admissions essay is by, in the words of Steve Jobs, "connecting the dots". Once you take time out to see how far you have come and what you have accomplished, only then will you be able to have a clear vision for your future. My job is to simply use my knowledge and extensive research to help you find your voice and make you connect the dots.
Over the years I have worked with numerous students with special educational needs. About 10% of my current students are dyslexic. I love working with my special needs students as they give me an opportunity to grow my skills and mold my hands on curriculum to fit their needs. I tutor with the aid of electronic tools that help lay out my curriculum visually on a smart screen. Most of my students learn better through videos and images and the information that I teach is usually delivered through actively engaging my students visually as well as verbally. This helps students piece together valuable information, which they then retain and apply both academically and professionally.
I will work with your child thrice a week to ensure proficiency in reading writing and mathematics. The PSAT is a rigorous test and is often used by numerous non-profit, public and private organizations to determine whether your child is qualified to receive a merit-based scholarship. This is crucial if you have limited resources and would like your child to take advantage of higher education from an accredited academic institution. I inspire students from eighth grade onwards to excel not only at test taking but also in all their pursuits whether academic personal or professional.
I have two methods of teaching the math portion of the SAT. The first method is to test my students in the different categories and customize the course to their individual needs. The second, is to start at the beginning and teach or re-teach all math topics of the SAT. I have structured a course that covers every, and I mean every, math topic there is in the SAT, and pride myself in explaining the subjects in such a way that any student will obtain a firm grasp of the concepts. The next step will be to teach the strategies and methods of "how" to take the SAT. The last and final step is to bombard the student with practice to ensure the retention of everything that I have taught them. I am confident that after learning from me, my student will love math.
Reading is one of the most important subjects in the SATs through which Collegeboard tests your child. It is by far also the most difficult as it pushes your child to think critically. I work thoroughly with your child until he or she is thoroughly familiar with the content ETS places in the SAT critical reading section. Not only will you notice an increase in your child's vocabulary but you will also witness a difference in the way your child expresses him/herself. I strive to inspire as only inspiration fortifies a child's personality and motivates the child to enjoy all works of the english language and literature. This is crucial for not only academic but ultimately professional success.
In order to tackle the SAT writing component I find it necessary to take all of my students back to the basics of the English language. After reacquainting them with basic linguistics I teach them how to identify errors within sentences and paragraphs. I also equip them with unique and potent skills essential in persuasive essay writing.
