Hello, learners! I am certified in business education, teach online reading at a private school, and taught ESOL for three years. I am a trained substitute teacher and volunteer tutor. In the past, I worked as an assistant teacher and in other positions at a Montessori school for four years. I have been tutoring/teaching since 2005 and continue to develop myself to be the best that I can.

I passed the general knowledge tests for the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations or FTCE because I had intended on completing a bachelor's degree in Exceptional Student Education (ESE). Instead, I achieved an associate in ESE and finished with honors from Miami Dade College in 2014 with a BAS in Supervision and Management. Further, I have the standard hours of childcare training through Florida Department of Children and Families. I also have other training and numerous certificates, which include magna cum laude and academic distinction.

My major areas of tutoring include English, reading, and writing. In addition, while I am not a qualified Montessori teacher, I have a great appreciation for the philosophy; thus, I prefer to interact with students using its style. However, I strive to reach learners by employing methods and techniques that work for them and within their time frame.

As far as other policies go, I will never charge you extra if we exceed the agreed upon tutoring time. Further, I will charge $10 for no shows and cancellations that occur after 24 hours. I understand that “life happens,” so I encourage you to communicate your concerns directly to me.

Feel free to inquire about other lessons because once I prove my knowledge with Wyzant, I might be the right fit for you. Also, please remember that we can exchange personal information when your payment details are on file and Wyzant will deduct the tutoring fee AFTER I conduct and submit each lesson. Thank you, and I am looking forward to working with you.

Approved Subjects

Anatomy

Anatomy

Normally, I do not tutor anatomy. However, I included it as an option since I did well in the class during college. Because of that, I prefer to assist elementary students in this area.
Business

Business

I tutor business because I have a strong academic background, including honor roll recognition and degrees in the field. My experience managing small businesses and working from home has given me practical insight into core business concepts. I am confident I can help students understand both the theory and the real-world applications of business.
Earth Science

Earth Science

I tutor earth science because I understand the subject well and enjoy helping others make sense of it. I know how to explain concepts clearly using examples that actually stick. It is satisfying to watch someone go from confused to confident.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Math is an essential part of learning and connected to life on so many levels. Because I passed the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations general knowledge math sub-test, I tutor elementary math. I maintain and improve my knowledge through online platforms and by working with students from year-to-year.
English

English

Throughout my early and late education, English language has always been my strength. In college, I typically had outstanding grades. Today, I continue to stay on the cutting edge by taking various competency exams because I know that being a native speaker is not enough to prove my knowledge. Besides, students value "the tricks" I use to help them learn.
Grammar

Grammar

After attending college for six years, completing numerous papers, and studying a foreign language, I realized that my grammar skills have been sufficiently polished to help learners rise to a higher level.
Phonics

Phonics

My experience comes from successfully teaching students how to read. I use phonics lessons to accomplish my goals.
Reading

Reading

In 2007, I completed a national literacy training program in The Bahamas. Since then, I have been enthusiastic about helping people learn how to read. My technique in helping students learn is discovering what he/she likes and build off of it. For this reason, I have also successfully assisted learners who have been labeled. Together, we can accomplish everything!
Writing

Writing

When I first added writing as a subject, I was more focused on handwriting and helping students build sentences and/or write answers based upon content. Because I used to review and critique essays for (potential) teachers and I enjoy writing, my focus has shifted to essay writing.

Passionate & Compassionate!

Ms. Marsha was very professional and clear or her objectives and expectations. She clearly expressed her teaching style and I could hear her strong passion and love for what she does and seeing her students thrive. My child connected with her instantly and I was happy to hear how Ms. Marsha was consistently acknowledging and reinforcing positive encouragement during the session. My child is very sensitive and expresses their likes and dislikes. Ms. Marsha got the thumbs up and we are excited for this journey.

Recommended Tuition Teacher for Writing

The lessons were not only informative but also tailored to the specific needs and learning styles of the student. Her personalized approach has significantly contributed to my child's understanding of English writing and has fostered a genuine enthusiasm for learning. Will be taking more classes to keep improving writing skills of my son.

Tutor responded:

I deeply appreciate how you could see through me. Too many parents end the classes after the first lesson because they want me to focus on skills that require prior knowledge. Clearly, their children must learn or refresh the information that comes first. You have a great kid. He needs to work at his pace and build his knoweledge. I trust that he will get to where you need him to be in a short time because he wants to learn and catches on quickly.

Great teacher with patience and being punctual!
