I was a high school chemistry teacher for 2 years and a middle school science teacher for 1 year. I was an AVID tutor this past year, and my students told me I should tutor privately because I can make complicated subjects seem easier. I was a high school chemistry teacher for 2 years and a middle school science teacher for 1 year. I was an AVID tutor this past year, and my students told me I should tutor privately because I can make complicated subjects seem easier. I try to explain things in the simplest terms possible so it's easier to understand. What I like about tutoring is seeing my students' grades improve and when they "get" topics that they previously struggled with. Also, many subjects build on themselves, so if the student can go back and understand the basics, then they can perform better in the subject in the future as well.

I had to do a lot of math for my science major, and when I was teaching high school chemistry, I ended up tutoring a lot of my students in algebra also, because they needed it for chemistry. I used to think I was not good at math, but now I think that it just takes practice; anyone can be good at math. Math is full of patterns and rules, and even if the student cannot understand why the rules work a certain way, I am pretty good at helping them at least find the patterns so they can do the problems.

I used to teach chemistry and managed to increase our school's test scores from the lowest in the district (the year before) to the highest (my first year there). I am good at simplifying chemistry for students who are struggling. I was a biology major and enjoyed how the systems interacted. I have not taught biology as a classroom teacher, but I taught life science in middle school. I think it's fascinating how everything works together so that our bodies and ecosystems function.

Contact me for math or science, and we can address any issues you are struggling with! I can tutor online or in person. Let's see if we can get those grades up!

Very Patient with my son

My son said he understood more after one hour with Debbie than he's grasped all year long in class. I'm hopeful that by meeting with Debbie at least once per week, he will be more confident in his Math skills. Debbie is very nice and quite patient.
