About Israel

I am currently working on a Mathematics degree at Texas A&M University. I also have experience working with high school students, and I am a former tutor from SISD. I greatly enjoyed my job as a tutor there and I hope to continue doing private tutoring. I have tutored nearly every subject that is offered in the high school Mathematics Curriculum. I specialized in working with students who had the most trouble with the subject and were in danger of losing credits in that area. I am also a college senior and will be completing the final math classes in my degree this year, so I have also worked in many advanced areas. In my experience, many students have been happy with my approach to aiding them, and I have come across many students who learn in many different ways, and I enjoy the challenge of trying to find what works best for them. I would love the opportunity to work with students to continue my growth as a tutor and help them understand the subject that I love so much.

I decided to major in Math because I wanted to help the many people who struggle with it. I also want to show students that it is not the useless subject that they think it is. For most of them, I think that is where the root of the problem lies. I also hope to become a teacher in the future, so this experience is crucial for me. In order for me to be a successful teacher, I need to experience all the different types of personalities and learning styles that are prevalent in the education system today. This is why I value the opportunities to work individually with students so much. Lastly, the work I do with students aids me in my own work as well. Many people my age tend to forget the basics that they were taught in public school. I noticed that as I tutored, the grades in my math classes also started improving because I was able to recall old information very easily. So in a sense, helping other students will also help me to be better equipped for the future to come.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I formerly tutored high school students in the Socorro Independent school district. I am aware of the different topics that are covered and I know the subject very well.
