Texas A&M University (Psychology)
Howdy! My name is Johannah S. and I am a Junior at Texas A&M University. I am currently studying psychology with the goal of becoming a PTSD counselor for trafficking victims. I am very passionate about helping others however I am able.
Flute, mathematics, and writing are three of my strongest skills and interests. In high school band, I was first chair for all four years and I also attended All-State band for three years. Mathematics was my best subject in high school, including the SAT, for which I tutored juniors preparing for their PSAT. I am also a very strong writer; I received a score of 4 and 5 on my English AP exams and I always received high scores on my in-class essays. I also enjoy peer-editing for my colleagues.
I love tutoring because I love helping others and I love the subjects/skills that I teach. It's an incomparable feeling to see the look of accomplishment and pride in one of my students.
I would love to work with you in any of the subjects I have listed. I can tutor you easily through patience, understanding, as well as through what I have learned from my professional tutors in high school. I look forward to working with you (: Howdy! I have experience working with kids at my church during high school, and I myself received tutoring from freshman to junior year, so I am familiar with the approaches to teaching math and the patience that is required.
I have been playing since fifth grade and I received tutoring from 7th to 12th grade from 3 professional flutists. I attended All-State Band from Sophomore to senior year, I received the high school band award for all four years, and I also played for my high school graduation. I spent 15 to 20 hours a week practicing, and am very passionate about the art.
I received 70 on my SAT, and I was a PSAT-prep math teacher in high school. I had a tutor from freshman to junior year, so I am familiar with the different approaches, shortcuts, and techniques for tutoring SAT math. I know how to solve each different type of problem and am comfortable in explaining each one in multiple ways.
