I am an accounting professional with over 15 years of experience in the field, most notably in my position as a Controller for two corporations and as an accounting professor at Victoria College, where I taught accounting and business management courses for 6 years. I recently moved to Brenham and work as the Accounting Manager/Controller for the City of College Station.
I have extensive experience using QuickBooks and other accounting software programs. I worked my way through college by providing consulting and bookkeeping services to small businesses and know what it takes to learn the software and use it in the real world! I am also proficient in most Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher.
Although I greatly enjoy my day job, I also love helping people learn something new and welcome the opportunity to help you be successful in your current endeavor! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor in the subject of business based on my education and professional experience. I have a BBA in Accounting and an MBA; I have worked in the business environment for over 20 years; I was a professor at Victoria College in Victoria, Texas for 6 years, where I also served as the Curriculum Coordinator for the AAS Business Management degree program. In addition to teaching 1-2 accounting courses each semester, I taught several courses within the AAS BMGT degree plan. These included Personal Finance, Principles of Marketing, Business Principles, Principles of Management, Human Relations, and the business program capstone course.
I have used QuickBooks for approximately 20 years, beginning with one of my first office jobs where I converted a manual bookkeeping system to QuickBooks. I taught QuickBooks courses through the University of Victoria's Small Business Development Center when I worked there from 98-2000. After that, I returned to college and ran a successful QuickBooks consulting company though out my college years. My most recent experience teaching QuickBooks was at Victoria College, where I was a professor for 6 years. I taught Computerized Accounting with QuickBooks as the software program.
