My years in the High Tech industry have helped me to develop a perspective on learning in that I appreciate how each individual is better enhanced with tailored teaching; predetermined curriculums tend to pasteurize and stifle the often overlooked unique qualities of each student.
My experience in teaching executives interested in work results, managerial overviews, new employees, coop students, and more recently elementary students, I realize a commonality for turning raw information into pragmatic and useful tools for the recipient of the new learning is to place it into the 'story line' of their life experience. For this reason I prefer individual or small group tutoring sessions, however I have handled training of up to thirty students with success. Patient, but positive firm application of forward direction to avoid becoming sidetracked is an important factor, but it must be realized that the fewer students in each session then the better the information can be paced according to individual or groups needs.
The scope of my student teaching experience is wide in range, from a current hands-on after school tutoring of elementary grade for students in the Alamo Heights district of San Antonio; to teaching technical automated test equipment usage or thermal control development of adult students in Austin in the corporate environment, many of the students from overseas nations with English as a second language. I have instructed adults and youths on the improvement of their public speaking in a class setting, as well as adults with medical challenges on basic computer use and navigation.
My strength is in taking subjects of history, science, language, math, etc., and helping the student to deconstruct then reconstruct them so they gain a elemental and comprehensive understanding that supports their educational processing needs. I don't know everything, but what I know I can teach.
To support the personal needs of the students I will tutor in your home or office. For elementary through high school level students, I prefer after school hours over evening, but this is negotiable for some days of the week. Weekends can also be an option if needed as it does often provide more time for longer sessions. Be mindful repeated cancellations of sessions can result in dropping the student, so be sure a Weekend session is what is truly important before requesting such. If a specific school book or targeted lesson plan, it is strongly recommended that I have access to it at least one week prior to the first tutor session.
I do have a 24 hour session cancellation notice, but make up sessions can be arranged dependent up open time in our mutual schedules. Initial consultation is free. I am earnest in honestly determining whether I am the right fit or not for the students needs. If a short term trial period is deemed appropriate in order to make this determination, at that time best course of action can be discussed.
Contact me and we can discuss how to attain the student's educational goal. My experience in teaching executives interested in work
I have experience in training from pushing the start button up to finding and opening up software applications on Windows and Linux operating systems, as well as explaining what many of these terms actually mean. With modern business practices it is often necessary to delve into computer technology in order to fulfill many business and government tasks. While some find it useful to have others do this for them, others prefer to learn how to use the equipment and retain the control. I have some skills in Spanish language if necessary, but English will be the main language in tutoring.
