Bio

I am a teacher by trade however I did other jobs such as costumer service. I graduated from CAP in 1980 and I came to the USA with my ex husband. We lived in many states and countries because he was a soldier in the Army. I worked for AAFES most of our military bases. I enjoyed two overseas stations, where my ex husband was stationed, Greece once and Germany twice. I worked for AAFES and the university of Maryland as a registrar And most importantly, I worked at Big Bend Community College...

I enjoyed two overseas stations, where my ex husband was stationed, Greece once and Germany twice. I worked for AAFES and the university of Maryland as a registrar

And most importantly, I worked at Big Bend Community College as an Arabic teacher for our special forces. I was blessed to work for our Coalition Forces in Iraq from 2006 to 2011. I wasn't only a linguist/ translator but I did conferences as well for one of our Lt Col at the time. He is a Colonel today. I was invited to meet his family in Fort Hood and that is a great honor.

I am currently on call whenever I am needed to teach Arabic or French for our National Guard/Camp Bullis in San Antonio, TX. I have done more tutoring in San Antonio, Texas before I left to Iraq in 2006. I was recommended by many parents to other parents in the community. I tutored all levels from 1st grade students to all grades in middle school and high school.

I had to move to Austin because of one of my girls who thinks that Austin has more opportunities for me as far as my teaching and tutoring. I believe that tutoring and teaching go hand in hand although tutoring may be one on one focus to capture the student's total attention and curiosity. That was always my goal either in a classroom setting of many students or one. The goal is to convey the matter at hand to the student and gain his/her interest, totally. I have tutored French and Arabic to students who hired me because they heard about my methods with all ages of my students. My goal is to help the students of all ages and various background to enjoy the language that they have chosen to learn.

I am also pursuing a degree in psychology in order to help my students and be their role model either in the classroom or out of the classroom. I am totally dedicated and committed to my mission as a teacher or a tutor.

Thank you, Touria

I have been certified as an elementary school Arabic teacher since 1980. In fact, I worked in Omar Alkhayyam, high school and in Oum El Banine, middle school in Rabat, Morocco from 1974 to 1980 as an administrator. I have also worked for Big Bend community college as a registrar and an Arabic teacher/tutor for our special forces in Augsburg, Germany. During my teaching or tutoring experiences, I learned to engage the students constantly in the subject matter without boring them. Plus, I kept them not only engaged but interested in the language they want to learn and master in a unique and a fun way. The improvement of the students is proof that such methods work basically with most students if you interact with them during the tutoring sessions at all times. Students are in dire need for consistent teachers/tutors. Thank you, Touria

Great teacher

Great start for sure, kids enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to working together. Touria is patient, kind, yet demanding. Great with kids.

Persistent and encouraging

Touria is improving our daughter’s confidence in speaking French. After two sessions she is already feeling better about her abilities. Touria is kind and encouraging, but insistent on doing the work.

Tutor responded:

I mainly see my students as my children for I grew up in a great home. We were 10 children & we grew up with 10 nieces & nephews, at the time. We were great students because education was the ultimate goal of every child. Unfortunately, there are exceptions to rule. So far, I am lucky. All the students I've met are intelligent and bright. We look each other in the eyes and we agree on one concept, " Just do it". Consistency is the key. Alena knows exactly what I expect from her so we can achieve our goal. I can't do it alone! Thank you, Alena. Sincerely, Touria

Relatable Tutor

Is really helping my kid learn the how to's of speaking French, not just how to work through a textbook. She is very entertaining and he really enjoys working with her.

Tutor responded:

I personally believe in Nike's motto, " Just do it". When I was a teenager, my parents and their tribes taught me one precious and positive way to look at things and get them done. They definitely believe in "the more you do it, the more it gets done." I pass that motto to all my students. The majority of them are willing to follow thru but, some have to take their time. Once they get it, the sky is the limit. My purpose is to see my students accomplish their goal. Aaron is an intelligent student. I enjoy working with him since the first time. Thank you, Aaron. Thank you, dear Elizabeth Sincerely, Touria

Fun, knowledgeable, and patient

Wow, Touria is spot on for any language enthusiast. She brings cultural aspects into language learning, and she has a teaching method that I'm very fond of. After years of studying Arabic between school and self teaching; I'm surprised how many fundamentals of Arabic I'm not familiar with. I've had some real eye openers with Touria. I recommend her!
