I'm a mother of two children, 12 and 9. I have been teaching for 15 years. My passion, dedication, and creativity are unique and engage children to help make learning fun! I have a gift for engaging even the most reluctant learners- (including my son!).
I have taught 6th grade, 3rd grade and most recently 2nd grade. I just moved to TX from a suburb in Boston where I lived and taught in an exemplary school system. I believe in setting goals and rewarding children when they meet those goals. I am fortunate to take this year off from teaching so I have optimal flexibility.
I have had the opportunity to work with superior reading specialists, having taught in a remedial reading 2nd grade classroom. I have learned from these specialists and have taken courses to further develop my reading instruction skills.
Having spent the last two years teaching the Common Core, I have attended many workshops on the purpose and objectives of the standards. My teaching philosophy is that every child can and will learn. I help children learn the critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills students need to be successful.
I have tutored children in the past and also worked at a well known tutoring facility. There I would tutor 3 children on 3 different subjects at one time. I believe the most successful tutoring experience is one on one.
I have worked closely with kindergarten and first grade teachers to learn strategies to help my 2nd grade struggling readers. Having a child myself that struggled with phonics I used proven research-based strategies and techniques to help children learn the basic phonics skills through engaging lessons and games.
I have a love of math and reading and my passion is evident! I will tutor at your home, library, or my home.
When a child has been in school all day, the last thing they want to do is spend time with a tutor! I assure you, your child will enjoy the 45 minute - 1 hour tutoring session. If you're not satisfied after the first session - the session is free! I'm a mother of two children, 12 and 9. I have been teaching for 15 years. My passion, dedication, and creativity are unique and engage children to help make learning fun! I have a gift for engaging even the most reluctant learners- (including my son!).

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified elementary school teacher. I have a MA certification, grades 1-6. I have taught 6th grade, 3rd grade and 2nd grade in an exemplary school system.
