About Kate

I have been working as an engineer in the tech industry and decided to take time off to spend with my children. I worked with our STEM program at work and wanted to continue to encourage students to achieve their goals in improving their grades and gain confidence in the subject matter. I want to be able to help students understand the concepts of math and not be intimidated by it. Every student has a different way of learning things, you just have to find out what works best.

I graduated with a Chemistry and Math degree and tutored while I was a student at the university. I would love an opportunity to help you achieve your goals and improve your confidence in the subject matter.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have a major in math and chemistry and have been working as a Hardware Engineer for past 15+ years. I actively participate with STEM to help encourage students to major in math and science. I am tutoring Algebra1 and 2, PreCalculus, Geometry and Trigonometry, which are subjects that are covered on the ACT Math exam. I know how important making a high score is to a student and I want to be able to help you achieve your goals. I have the expertise to help you understand any concepts for the ACT Math exam that you may have issue with.

Algebra 1

I have always loved solving problems, that is why I pursued a math and science degree and worked as an Engineer all these years. I like helping students improve their grades and I have great reviews from past students that I have helped.

Algebra 2

I have a math and chemistry degree and work as a Hardware Engineer. I enjoy working on Algebra problems and helping students understand the concept to help improve their grades.

Chemistry

I majored in Chemistry initially to pursue Pharmacy but I wanted to do more with my Chemistry degree and was fortunate to work in one of the leading tech industries. I was able to put my knowledge to use and work on fabricating integrated circuits. As a chemistry tutor, I try to show the students how electrons are actually being utilized in our everyday life, even though we cannot see them.

Elementary Math

I volunteered with the STEM program at work to encourage and educate young students about math and science. I believe if you start early, it becomes part of their every day routine that it will not be intimidating later in high school or college. I like to help students improve their grades and accomplish their goals.

Elementary Science

I have a degree in math and chemistry and work on math puzzles in my spare time. I am currently tutoring different levels of high school and college math and chemistry. I volunteered with the STEM program at work to encourage and educate young students about math and science. I believe if you start early, it becomes part of their every day routine. I want to help your child succeed at science because it is fun.

Geometry

I have worked with several high school students to help them improve their grades in Geometry. Even though I did not take Geometry in school, I was still able to tutor and help students with their coursework. I became proficient in Geometry over the years tutoring students and have been able to have the same passion for Geometry as I do for Algebra and Calculus.

Physical Science

Physical Science incorporates the aspects of chemistry, math and science into one subject which helps students see it all relates to each other. I decided to study math and science in college because I have always been interested in how everything works together. I have been tutoring for 10+ years in various science and math classes.

Precalculus

I enjoy solving complex problems introduced in PreCalculus with imaginary numbers, logarithms and simplify polynomials. I like helping students improve their grades and gain confidence in PreCalculus. I took more than my required math credits for my major that I ended up with a degree in math. My reward is seeing student's face when they solve the problem or when they get their exam back with a high score.

SAT Math

I am a Hardware Engineer with a major in math and chemistry. I am currently tutoring Algebra1 and 2, PreCalculus, Geometry and Trigonometry, which are subjects that are covered on the SAT Math exam. Obtaining a high score on SAT Math test is important and I want to be able to help you achieve your goals.

Trigonometry

I enjoy working with trigonometry because it involves another aspect of math where you simplify problems without having to calculate. Trigonometry and algebra were my favorite subjects when I was studying math in school. I want to be able to help students improve their grades and gain a confidence for working with trigonometry.
