Cheryl is wonderful. The first thing that impressed me about her was that she had a plan. She has been tutoring our son for 2 1/2 months. They have developed a very good relationship over the summer. She is very patient. He can be stubborn, uncooperative, and unfocused (ADD). Yet she quickly disarms him at the beginning of their sessions. Their sessions are always positive and productive. His reading comprehension has shown steady improvement. I would recommend her to anyone.
Cheryl has been a wonderful tutor for our 6 year old son. He has been diagnosed with specific learning disabilities and was nearly an entire year behind his grade level in reading and writing. Cheryl has an extremely professional, well thought out, and very thorough curriculum that has been very effective. Our son is easily distracted and Cheryl has fantastic communication skills that keep him on task, maximizing his time spent learning and absorbing new information. She instantly earned his respect and understands that he's expected to put forth full effort during his time spent with her. She provides immediate and positive corrections to his work. She's very flexible and communicates well during planning sessions with the parents.
Our son is noticeably happier in every aspect of his life as he's shown noticeable results within 6 weeks. We wish we'd found Cheryl 6 months sooner - and we actively recommend her to anyone wanting an experienced, and highly technical tutor for K-6 reading/writing skills.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
