Although I'm still serving in the US Navy Reserve, being retired from the fire service allows me to be your ideal candidate for a knowledgeable tutor with flexible hours. I'm more than happy to chat with you via WyZant or over the phone before you commit to a lesson in one of my subjects. As a military member, I have an outstanding work ethic and impeccable time management skills. My philosophy is that knowledge is power, and that power must be shared to have any effect in this world. Before we start the tutoring progress, first I will ask what is it you want to do, be it computer related or medical related. Then we will see what knowledge you already have towards that endeavor. Last we will work together to you have the complete knowledge for you to obtain your goals. I have two degrees: Associate of Arts, and Bachelor's in Business Administration. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In conjunction with my military service (24yrs) as a Navy Corpsman leader, I am responsible for not only keeping up my own personal health standard, but also tracking the health and fitness level of every single person in the battalion. I am designated the Command Fitness Leader of my unit. This involves an incredible amount of organization on the computer side, as well as daily physical fitness testing and physical therapy. At 54 y/o I just completed the Marine Corps Fitness testing obtaining a First Class rating by performing 87 situps in 2 minutes, 8 straight dead hang pull ups, and a 3 mile run in 23 minutes 36 seconds. I have also completed and was certificated as a Personal Fitness Training, however it has expired at this time.

I have used Microsoft Outlook since it first came out. Working with the many up upgrades it has had. I am required to use Microsoft Outlook in a professional environment on a daily basis at the expert level.
Before Windows there was DOS, which stands for Disk Operating systems. This is where I started working with computers. My first one was a Commodore VIC 20, where one had to type in all the code to run a program. Then Windows 3.1 came out, I thought I was in heaven with the Graphic inter face. Since then I have worked with Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, Vista, and Windows 7. Each one has had it pluses and minuses. But what most people do not understand is that Windows is a GIF (Graphic Inter Face) for DOS. Windows has numerous tools, everything from its own form of virus protection, file encryption, scanner/printer drivers, internet browsers, and much more. Before starting to tutor, we will first see what kind of machine and software you have, then see what your goal is, then establish a plan to get you where you want to be with the least amount of effort.
