About Paula

I am a Certified Special Education and English Language Arts teacher ( Grades 4-8 ) with 11 years of teaching experience working with struggling learners. I am currently attending the Lead Inc. training program receiving training in remediation for children or adults who have been identified with dyslexia. Also, I also teach an after-school dyslexia program at my school campus.

My teacher training at Lead Inc. provides me with specialized training to instruct dyslexic students and struggling readers in phonological awareness, alphabetic principle, reading (decoding), fluency, reading comprehension, cursive handwriting, spelling, grammar, oral expression and written composition. My desire is to see every child become a successful reader and develop a love for reading.

I taught Elementary Math Resource classes for two years and have worked as a Math Inclusion teacher at the Middle School level.

I am an outstanding Reading tutor because I have 11 years experience working with struggling readers and have received specialized training in multi-sensory teaching methods to instruct dyslexic students in how to read.

I have taught elementary students as a Special Education teacher. I am experienced in working with struggling students and utilizing multi-sensory teaching methods and materials to address the students' needs.

I have experience instructing students in Reading using various phonics- based Reading curricula.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Dyslexia

I am a Certified Special Education and English Language Arts teacher ( Grades 4-8 ) with 11 years of teaching experience working with struggling learners. I am currently enrolled in an accredited Dyslexia training program at the Lead Training Center in Dallas, Texas receiving remedial language training for teaching children and adults who have been identified with dyslexia. I am working towards obtaining a CALT certification, which is a national certification qualifying me to teach children and adults with dyslexia.

Presently, I teach middle school dyslexic students reading, spelling, handwriting, and grammar with central emphasis on the alphabet and phonics utilizing multisensory teaching methods. Therefore, I am qualified to teach dyslexic individuals Reading, Spelling, and Handwriting.
