Teaching the English language to adult-age students has been my career for almost twelve years. My training as a scholar includes a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master’s Degree in Education – Teaching and Curriculum from Northcentral University. My relevant qualifications include education and professional experience. I have worked in the news media for ten years (1996-2006) utilizing the writing process with practical communication skills. Also, I began teaching developmental reading and writing as an adjunct instructor in 2003 at Navarro College’s extension campus in Waxahachie, Texas and at the main campus in Corsicana. I’ve had additional teaching experience at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas since 2006. Finally, I have recently completed my Master's Program at Northcentral University. Now, I am ready to continue with the challenges of teaching English and developmental English studies in a culturally diverse environment.

Through my work, I have learned effective teaching strategies, class management, and interacting with a culturally diverse student population with combinative methodologies utilizing technology and direct instruction. I believe my extensive experience teaching remedial reading and writing (11 years) and my educational background will make me an effective tutor.

My primary focus lies upon student success whether in the classroom or outside. It is incumbent upon the reflective educator to create a comfortable learning environment for his/her students and create teaching methodologies that will encourage critical thinking skills and equip learners with the knowledge and cognitive skill required to help them succeed in college and become productive citizens in our rapidly globalizing society.

People who seek to improve their English skills have a reason - a goal of some kind to be achieved and good writing skills are a part of it. Contact me right away and get started on your life's goals. I look forward to working with you.

I've been working with words a good portion of my adult life. First, I wrote for newspapers for ten years, while working on my Bachelor's Degree in English at UTA and afterwards. Also, I've taught developmental reading and writing since Fall 2003 for two area community colleges.

Bible Studies

Having a father as a pastor tends to provide substantial background in Biblical studies. My life has been inundated with biblical engagement from the time I was a small child. In addition, I taught high school age boys in Sunday School. More recently, I worked on voice characterization with the puppet ministry at my Church, presenting Bible stories to children.
