About Kevin

I am a certified mathematics teacher in the state of Texas. I teach Algebra 1 consistently, but I do private sessions in and outside of school settings with students anywhere from middle school math to ACT/SAT prep. My subjects would include middle school maths, pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, pre-calculus, statistics, ACT, SAT, and STAAR prep.

I am a flexible tutor who can do anything from refreshing skills on topics students are not quite understanding all the way to creating lessons from scratch to ensure students understand a new concept.

I would not accept payment if the family felt the tutoring was not satisfactory.

Please give as much time as possible if a cancellation is necessary, and I would be more than willing to re-schedule any tutoring appointment if time conflicts arise. Please contact me with any questions or comments. I look forward to hearing from you. GOOD LUCK!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I am an algebra teacher currently.

Baseball

I played competitive baseball for 14 years. I turned down a chance to play baseball in college because I had an academic scholarship to a bigger school. I also coached baseball at the high school level last season.

Political Science

I was a double major and Political Science was one of my majors. I actually was a Teacher's Assistant (TA) for my college, Oklahoma State University, for two full semesters. This job required me to teach government one day a week to college students. If I can teach college students political science, I can certainly assist high school/middle school students in their studies.

Sociology

I was a sociology double major in college. I was a research assistant for a year at Oklahoma State University for multiple sociology professors. During school I had the opportunity to be a Teacher's Assistant (TA) for an introduction to sociology class as well.

STAAR

I am a certified math teacher in the state of Texas, and teaching math is my full time job. I am responsible for teaching students in a way that will allow them to pass the STAAR test and I have access to a number of resources by grade level to help me assist students in their "high stakes" testing. I also have spent many hours tutoring for the STAAR test at the school where I work.
