I love helping students to achieve what they feel is the unachievable. I taught 3rd and 4th grade students for 29 years and had so much fun helping students to overcome hurdles in learning and being able to pass those hard and stressful tests. I would love the chance to help your child make gains in their understanding of skills and curriculum.
There are many students that just need that one on one help that doesn't come from a classroom setting. I can provide that for you and your child and help your child to be one of those kids that isn't afraid to raise their hand to answer questions in the classroom. I have a ton on experience with all different types of students and can definitely find a path that works.
Writing is perhaps one of my favorite things to do. When you read you also learn to write in ways that take you places. Vocabulary is the secret to taking that flight.
I became the science team leader many years ago and learned to use science as my cross curriculum theme. Math can be fun when you have the tools in your mind to use. I am that person that has so many ways to teach a student that it becomes second nature to pull those tools to the forefront.
Phonics can be puzzling at best. But once a student has the background and understanding of phonics it is so much easier for the student to read and become an avid reader.
I have tutored kids for so many years. I have a young man that took my breath about a year ago when I went to his graduation. I went up to hug him and his pastor was standing there talking to him. When the student saw me he told his pastor, "This is the teacher I told you about. She is the reason I was able to graduate. She taught me to read." Tears just started flowing. That is what it is all about for me.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a retired teacher of 29 years with a BS in Education. I taught 3rd and 4th grade students during my career and I'm able to tutor all elementary subjects, including phonics. I have tutored many children, all who have made great strides in learning and taking tests. I love helping children to surpass their goals and achieve the unachievable.
