B.S. - Texas A&M University (Biology)
I am a senior biology major at Texas A&M with 2 years of science tutoring experience in both individual and group settings. For over a year, I worked as a Supplemental Instruction (SI) leader at Texas A&M in the biology department. As such, I led hourly review sessions three time a week and helped students understand and master the concepts covered in the course as well as aiding in exam preparation and forming good study strategies. I have a strong passion for chemistry and biology as these subjects have occupied most of the fundamentals of my education and I would like to share my experiences with others.
As a science student, I have come to realize the importance of math in every aspect of higher learning. Having a good foundation in algebra sets students up for success in the future. I have always excelled in math as it is crucial for my degree and I would be happy to help others achieve confidence and success in this area.
As a Supplemental Instruction leader for the sophomore level biology course BIOL 214, I gained experience instructing and tutoring large groups as well as providing good exam preparation. As a biology major, I have completed varying courses in both biology and chemistry. These include general chemistry, organic chemistry, introductory biology, molecular biology, ecology, evolutionary biology, and genetics. I also am currently involved in research in the areas of ecology and evolutionary biology.
I look forward to providing you with the necessary assistance whether you're seeking homework help, exam preparation, tips for studying, or assistance with overall material comprehension and retention. She really knows her material, she came to me fresh and haven’t even look at what we were going over in class and was still able to answer all of my questions and help erase any confusion, if you are struggling in Chem then she is definitely the one to go to.
Holly is very knowledgeable over the material and is extremely helpful in explaining the material in multiple ways. Definitely recommend for Bio 214.
Grandson he really enjoyed Holly has his tutor, we will be using her again. My grandson stated she was very helpful and getting him to understand Chemistry a little better
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have completed and received a grade of A in a 3 credit hour principle genetics course (GENE 302) at Texas A&M University. I also completed a 1 credit hour comprehensive genetics lab course (GENE 312) and received a grade of A. Additionally, I was a tutor for a biology course that focused specifically on the connection between the fields of genetics, ecology, and evolution.
