About Jennifer

I am an educational services professional living in Bryan, TX, who enjoys teaching and sharing my skills with others.

I have taught ESL, STEM Skills, Middle Eastern history, and Film studies in a variety of educational environments both in the U.S. and abroad. I have worked with all ages-- from 3rd graders to grandmothers and have experience teaching those who are illiterate as they begin their studies.

I have several years of experience teaching English as a second language both in the U.S. and abroad. My students have come from all levels of English proficiency, beginning education backgrounds, ages, and walks of life. I focus my lessons around real-life situations and prioritize vocabulary and grammar essential to everyday living so that my students may immediately engage their new skills in their daily lives. I also cater my lessons to my students' individual learning styles, desired results, and individual needs.

I hold a M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies and a B.A. in History and Women's Studies. I have participated in over a dozen conferences and public events in which I have presented on several areas of World History. In addition, I have been published on subjects ranging from Film Noir and sexuality to contemporary film and Iranian history. Finally, I have acted as a guest lecture for undergraduate and high school lessons on Middle Eastern and World History.

Please feel free to contact me with question, concerns, or to schedule an appointment!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
