I have worked with 5th and 6th grade students who had not passed the TAKS test on their 2nd try in Reading, Math and Science. I have worked with special needs students with physical disabilities, emotional disorders including depression and, ADHD, autism, and Chemical Dependency. I believe individualizing instruction to meet the child's needs based on an assessment of their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their interests. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
