I graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University (B.S. in Secondary Education/Spanish) and the University of Southern California (Master of Education), and I am excited to work with you! My love of language and teaching has taken me all over the world, from the public schools of Tennessee, where I taught for two years, to Montevideo, Uruguay, where I worked for a local NGO and taught English at a private language institute.
I believe in meeting students where they are – behind or advanced, excited or disinterested, or somewhere in the middle – and my experience has armed with the tools necessary to plan engaging lessons and break down difficult concepts.
I am here and ready to help you and/or your child meet your goals, whether they be passing Spanish 1, securing an A+ in Spanish 3, or writing an eye-catching college essay. *At this time I am unable to accept new students. I hope to be able to take on new students in the near future.

Ilana is super helpful when it comes to Spanish. She's very patient, and knowledgeable. Lessons are fun and interactive, and she really appears to cater our lessons to me specifically.
Ilana is a great person and a wonderful tutor; she is humble, patient, kind, and knowledgeable. She helped me with my reading and writing in English. I progressed and learned a lot of new things. She also tried to advance my speaking skills by opening conversations related to my assignments. She provided me with detailed feedback during our lessons. I was afraid that my first semester in my Master degree would be catastrophic. But when I contacted Ilana, everything started to improve. I am Thankful to her, and looking forward to keep working with her.
Ilana and I had 10 productive lessons. We covered 5 term papers by working collaboratively. Ilana provided me with detailed feedback when she was correcting my papers, she corrected my vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, and in some cases ideas. From Ilana, I learned how to write a paper using an APA format. Writing via APA style is something I needed to master as a Master Student, for a lot of my work is written assignments.
Additionally, Ilana helped me with a presentation I had. During a rehearsal session, Ilana pointed out some remarks for me to work on. Her comments were of high value.
As an international student in his first semester, I faced difficult and hard time socializing and making friends. Ilana was there listening to me, and suggesting some places I could visit in my free time in order for me to overcome my boredom and loneliness.
Overall, Ilana is a great person, tutor, and friend. It was an honor and a pleasure meeting her and working with her. Due to Ilana’s effort, I am anticipating to get an (A) in all my three courses this semester.
Ilana is a wonderful find. She is very modest, knowledgable, prompt, and prepared for her lessons. Ilana is also a very patient, prompt and effective tutor. Ilana works very diligently with my son and always comes with a plan of action. Ilana is a hidden jewel on Wyzant and we are very excited about her working with my son! Anyone seeking a Spanish or English tutor should look no further as they will surely be pleased with Ilana.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
