University of Florida College of Education (Elementary Education)
I am a certified elementary education teacher. I have 4.5 years of teaching experience and over 5 years of tutoring experience, ranging from below level learners to above level learners. At the same time working with students with disabilities. I taught gifted education for 1.5 years and then switched to general education because I wanted a homeroom. There I specialized in math and science during the school day. Yet in the mornings I was a literacy coach for below level learners and after school I was an enrichment coach for math and LEGO club. One year I was awarded science teacher of the year for using my creativity at the school and another year was the coach for the winning district math bowl team.
I left teaching to move to England with my husband and become a stay at home mom. While in England I continued working with youth and toddlers at the parish church as a youth group leader and baby and toddler play group director.
I now tutor children individually and in small group settings. My favorite place to tutor is the public library. I bring my own methods and creativity to each session, at the same time use materials given by the student's teacher. I plan to gain my state of Texas certificate in the near future and then return to my favorite job, teaching, when my children enter elementary school. About me:

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
