Baylor University (Computer Science)
Hello there! My name is Corey. I am an alumnus of Baylor University in Waco, where I recently received a degree in Computer Science and graduated from the Baylor Interdisciplinary Corps - a branch of the honors college with a focus on studying history, culture, and philosophy. With an SAT Score of 2150, I was a National Merit Commended scholar in my senior year of high school, and am more than capable of preparing you or your student to excel on the SAT, PSAT, or ACT standardized tests. I speak from experience when I say that high scores on these tests provide a massive boost to your college visibility, and dramatically increases your ability to be accepted to prestigious schools and earn generous scholarships. My specialty is in the reading and writing portions of these tests, though I am also capable of providing assistance in matters of math and science. Rest assured that studying with me will result in at least a 200 point boost to your SAT score - if not significantly more.
Furthermore, I am also an amateur saxophonist - I have been playing saxophone for a decade now, I received numerous accolades in my high school career and participated in marching band, courtside band, concert band, multiple jazz ensembles, and private lessons throughout all of my four years at Baylor.
I am also well qualified to assist your student in developing effective critical reading and analytical techniques that will both allow them to read and interpret highly complicated works of literature and to write and articulate themselves in a manner that is clear and rhetorically effective. With a nearly perfect score on the Writing portion of the SAT and multiple years in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Corps, an honors college focused on multicultural readings and a development of rhetorical writing skills, I have a keen understanding of how to both read and understand complex texts and to analyze and argue off of them in ways that are easily understood and form compelling arguments. These skills also allow me to assist students who are not studying for the SAT but looking more broadly to improve their literacy or written composition skills.
Finally, as a Computer Science graduate I have multiple years' experience working in Java and C++, and can assist your student in understanding the fundamentals of programming logic in both those languages, the basics of bitwise operations, or more advanced concepts such as Data Structure development or algorithm analysis. My Computer Science degree also gives me a firm grounding in math and science, and as such I also offer assistance in broader areas of high-school level math and physics.
It is my hope that you come to me if you or your student find yourself in the DFW area and in any need of assistance with regards to SAT prep, literacy and composition, saxophone fundamentals, basic-to-intermediate Computer Science, or high-school math and science. I'm happy to help, and guarantee measurable results from every session! Thank you for your time, and for your consideration! Hello there! My name is Corey. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received a perfect score on the English section of my ACT. I have also taken a number of writing-heavy courses during the course of my college career. I received a high score on the Math section of my ACT. My programming courses have also required me to study high-level math such as calculus and linear algebra. I am more than capable of explaining and teaching the logical and arithmetic principles behind the ACT math test.

At Baylor, I participated in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Corps - a branch of the honors college. One key component of this honors curriculum were a series of classes about philosophy as a whole and about an academic study of the bible. The courses included a great deal of scriptural study, and more importantly they spent a great deal of time trying to impart understanding of the context in which the various texts of the bible were written and how to interpret them in a way that is consistent, useful, and true to the spirit of the text as a whole.
I have been programming in C++ for approaching two-years now. I have experience working on my own and in groups, and a solid understanding of most common data structures and their implementations. I also have experience studying and implementing various advanced Algorithms to build Search Trees, solve Shortest Path problems, or other intermediate-level programming problems. I am fully capable of assisting with entry-level C++.
I have been playing the Saxophone for over eight years now, and I have amassed a large amount of experience playing in a variety of settings - these include small quartets and combos, classical ensembles, big band jazz ensembles, and marching bands. Furthermore, I have some teaching experience after spending some time as a section leader in charge of bringing along younger students and helping them learn music and develop their technique. I have studied from a great number of professional saxophonists and jazz musicians with credentials ranging from performance experience in the North Texas One O' Clock Lab Band to Professors of Saxophone at Baylor and Texas Christian Universities. I am more than capable of helping aspiring young saxophonists develop solid saxophone fundamentals, disciplined practice regimens, and a firm appreciation of the musical arts.
I graduated in the top 15 percent of my high school class even while enrolled almost exclusively in advanced-placement courses. Every TAKS test I completed recieved a "Commendable" classification. With a college-level background in mathematics, rhetoric, science, and history, I am more than capable of assisting with TAKS-prep.
