I taught the following at the United States Military Academy: electrical engineering, computer architecture, java programming, robotics, and web design. I earned a Master Teacher Certificate from the United States Military Academy in 2009 and CISSP. I taught undergraduate math for the University of Maryland College Station in 2011, and have six years of tutoring experience. The U.S. Army considers me an expert in robotics, and I served three years as part of a robotics lab. I have a student focused learning style, and love to help students grow in their understanding of the world.

I love science specifically electrical engineering and physics. I earned a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, one of only nine graduate students inducted into Eta Kappa Nu, Electrical Engineering Honor Society. My research areas are in computer architecture and semiconductor fabrication. I have also worked in chemical plants, and am certified in Functional Safety Engineering for Safety Instrumented Systems.

I have been programming in C++ since 1989, and in graduate school created a circuit simulator that could analyze up to 100,000 circuit elements in 1 second using advance linear algebra techniques. I'm fluent in VHDL and Verilog, while teaching undergraduate computer architecture which helps in being able to troubleshoot other people's code.

Please reach out to me if you are in need of electrical engineering, computer engineering, programming or math tutoring services.

Computer Engineering

I taught computer architecture, java programming and web design at the United States Military Academy, an undergraduate learning institution from 2007 to 2010. I completed the Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification in July 2010. I have programmed seven different manufacturers of programmable logic controllers (PLC) at chemical plants culminating in being responsible for 27 safety instrumented systems for a chemical plant that manufactured ethylene oxide. I also program in the following computer languages professionally: Fortran, Pascal, C, C++, Python, Assembly, Java, VHDL and Verilog. For the past two years, I have tutored programming, data structures and algorithm students to successfully complete their courses on Varsity Tutors Platform.

Amazing Tutor!

Ryan assisted me with my Operating Systems class. He was very knowledgeable and through. Ryan made a dry topic come alive by using analogies and adding his sense of humor. I look forward to working with him again!

John, 4 lessons with Ryan

very patient, great teacher

Created and structured some Vhdl files. Learned about creating test benches for all of my components to make sure they work before assembling the components together. Also patient and very helpful.
