An avid educator as well as performer, Rebecca combines a Master's Degree in Music with over 20 years of performance, recording, and teaching experience. Receiving her B.A. from Rhodes College in French and International Studies, this native Tennessean has 3 CD's to her credit, a vocal jazz arrangement on the Sony/BMG record label, and a combined performance, recording, and touring resume spanning the U.S., England, Scotland, Wales, France, and Japan. She has opened for Mel Torme and toured with Mac Frampton and the Hollywood Hills Orchestra as well as the Atlanta Pops, and co-founded the acclaimed vocal jazz quartet, South City Voices.
Rebecca has also appeared as a guest performing artist/lecturer with nationally renowned author and American song scholar Dr. Philip Furia at Middle Tennessee State University for a tribute to songwriter Johnny Mercer. She teamed once again with the South City Voices for the 2nd album of pop recording artist Brent Cash on the German record label, Marina Records, released in 2011. A finalist in the 2012 National Association of Teachers of Singing Art Song Competition, she received an Honorable Mention for her song cycle setting of Toi Derricotte’s “The Mirror Poems”.
In 2013, Rebecca left the Atlanta area to accept a position on the music faculty at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas as vocal jazz director and instructor of voice in contemporary styles, where she continued performing and developed a vocal jazz ensemble, master classes, and applied instruction in vocal jazz.
A member of NATS, TMEA, JEN, and other professional organizations, Rebecca stays busy performing and teaching, dividing her time and passions among arranging, writing, producing, and conducting music workshops and clinics throughout the southeastern US and southeast Texas, where she is currently working on a new recording project.
She loves to teach. She is a natural educator and performer! She will help you, inform you, and you will also be surprised how entertaining YOU and she are together!
