I am currently a 4th teacher and I have taught English for 19 years. My Masters Degree is in Special Education and I have previous years of teaching students with special needs and I currently serve specials needs.
I am an enthusiastic 4th grade teacher with superb leadership and communication skills. I have observed and assessed students performances and keep thorough records of progress. I teach after-school and summer enrichment programs, schedule and hold parent-teacher conferences to keep parents up-to-date on children's academic performance, and collaborate with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning and student engagement. I am a U.I.L. Coach and I have taught spelling and phonics. I am currently a 4th teacher and I have taught English for 19 years. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught grades 1-5 in all subject areas. I have tutored and tested students in grades k-6th grades. I am certified as a generalist by the state of Texas.
I have taught handwriting about 15 years. I am able to show students correct spacing, letter formation and correct letter style.
I have a background in SRA, Reading Recovery, Voyager and I have taught 1st and 2nd grade. I currently provide instruction to a group of struggling reading students where I provide SRA instruction. I instruct them with basis phonic instruction (about 30 minutes) daily.
I have taught students with IEP's in dyslexia, special education, BIP's (Behavioral Intervention Plans), and students with autism diagnosis. I have participated in ARDS to provide strategies and plans for students with IEP's. I hold a Master's in Special Education.
I am a 4th grade reading and writing STAAR teacher. I have taught STAAR grades 3, 4, 5 in the areas of reading and writing. I also tutor students in the same area three days a week.
I am excellent at providing skills and strategies for students on how to be successful at studying for test, preparing projects, and organizing daily homework. I am able to provide strategies and study skills to be successful with school work.
