About Georgia

Hello, my name is Georgia!
I'm somewhat new to Wyzant, but have been privately tutoring/teaching ESL, Spanish, mathematics, reading, and geography for more than four years. My passion is linguistics; Spanish is my strong suit in this area, as well as English pronunciation and grammar for International students and newcomers to a mainstream English-speaking country. I am very open, amiable and dedicated to the success of my pupils and am ever-ready to share knowledge and lend a helping hand however possible. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason at all!
All are welcome, so let's get learning!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biology

To learn the processes and structures of that make up a living organism.

ESL/ESOL

To non-native English speakers, learning English idioms, ideas, grammar, listening, speaking and communication skills are vital to their comprehension and association of the English language.
As a native speaker, I understand the many challenges that a self-taught English speaker may face. However, I have also been teaching/tutoring ESL student for 5 years, whom of which have been successful in their transition from learning English to knowing it. By approaching ESL from a beginners point, we cover every aspect of the language that may have been overlooked or skipped during the student's initial learning process. Incorporation of translations, actions, objects and idioms, the student will be able to learn the bulk of the English language simply by participating in (and practicing) conversational skills, observation and implementation.

Geography

Geography is the study of earthly locations and its physical features, such as bodies of water, deserts, wooded areas, forest, semi-arid habitats and latitudinal/longitudinal locations.

Prealgebra

Tutoring in Pre-Algebra is an introductory course to Algebra 1 and 2, also needed for better understanding of Pre-Calculus, Calculus and advanced Geometry. By using conceptual skills and simplistic variable formulas by using the "divide and conquer" approach, a student would be able to comprehend and test their theories.

Reading

Reading is one of the most important applicable learned abilities in today's society. To attain structure, enunciation, speech skills, sentence flow and knowledge, reading skills is a must-have for any individual in pursuit of heightened attainment of knowledge.
In a paced environment conducive to the pupil's needs, reading will be an easy and effective experience for any student.

Spanish

Learning Spanish can be difficult if one does not apply themselves fully, but it not impossible. I've been tutoring in Spanish for 4 years and understand the faults of confusion for non-native speakers. Although Spanish is the second most-spoken language in the USA and is spoken in more than 20 countries by over 300 million people, not many Americans know it. Taking place in a one-to-one environment and working at the pupil's pace, learning Spanish will be easy, beneficial and a pleasurable experience for the student.

Spelling

Spelling defines the fine line between antonym, synonym, homophone and ignorance. With proper vocabulary and spelling skills, one is able to correctly write the term necessary in order to convey the message intended when writing an essay, book, resumé, dissertation, or text in general.

Vocabulary

Learning vocabulary and its usage builds understanding, comprehension and development in a language as well as conversationally and in text. To understand and make a point and be versatile in conveying the length of a message, vocabulary is an asset to any individual.

World History

Gaining an understanding of the sequence of events occurring and their latter consequences as time has progressed is World History. Exploring the causes and effects, changes and idle times, exploration and isolation of cultures, countries, politics and people from ancient times to modern days give way to what World History is.
