Hi I'm Safaa! I am a second-year civil engineering student with a love for all things math and it is this passion that I want to pass on to my students. Hi I'm Safaa! I am a second-year civil engineering student with a love for all things math and it is this passion that I want to pass on to my students. My tutoring experience however, spans more than just math subjects and invests in my students to equip them with the tools to become self sufficient. For example, I spent a semester tutoring a classmate in physics. We would meet after school every week for one-on-one sessions to review homework, then dedicate time to develop study strategies that would help her better prepare for her exams, which helped earn her a B in the class. I also served as a private in home tutor for pre-algebra for an 8th grade student who wanted to be better prepared for the school year. We met every weekday for a month and worked through the curriculum together beginning with going over how to take organized notes and take a structured approach to learning math. Every session began by going over the concept and definitions from the lesson and then working through some example problems so that the student had a better understanding of the purpose and application of the lesson and became more familiar with the calculations and proper notations. More recently, I was a part of the mentorship program through UT SWE where I visited a nearby high school every other week to conduct hands on activities that inspired girls to get involved in STEM such as working as a team to build a windmill. I also helped the girls prepare for college by reviewing their resumes and applications.

Academically speaking, I am most qualified in teaching mathematics ranging from middle school mathematics and Pre-algebra up to BC Calculus. I can also teach high school Physics, AP Physics C Mechanics, and Statics. I believe that the best way to approach teaching these subjects is to first introduce the main concept behind the math and then to help the student familiarize themselves with the application and calculation of the concept by practicing problems. This hands-on process of trial and error is important because I believe that making mistakes and learning from them is the most constructive way to learn.

As a tutor, I believe it is important for students to take a holistic approach to learning and become familiar with the reason behind every lesson so they can easily and effectively implement the concepts they have learned. Through my experience working with students in previous years, I have learned the value of patience and persistence when teaching. I also focus on understanding how you best learn and provide study strategies tailored to you to make your self study more effective. I know that everyone learns in their own way and at their own pace; when one method of explanation doesn't work, I will try another and another until one eventually clicks because, as your tutor, it is important to me that you succeed. Your problems are my problems; your victories are my victories.

If you have any questions or think that I am the tutor you are looking for, please feel free to reach out. I am easy to reach, quick to respond, and look forward to working with my future students!

Very personable and skilled

Our son Andy was hesitant to meet with a tutor for his AP Calculus class. However, Safaa made him feel very comfortable with the situation and before long they were working very efficiently and effectively solving his homework problems and studying for a test. They even had a laugh or two together! We recommend her very highly!
