Hi, I'm Aaron. I'm a mathematics PhD student at the University of Texas at Austin, where I am working on pursuing my dream of someday becoming a math professor. Hi, I'm Aaron. I'm a mathematics PhD student at the University of Texas at Austin, where I am working on pursuing my dream of someday becoming a math professor. I did my undergrad at the University of Maryland, College Park, where I graduated cum laude with a BS in mathematics (with high honors), and a minor in philosophy.

I have been running my own private tutoring business since my sophomore year of college, though my passion for teaching began years prior. At Montgomery Blair High School, I would often spend my lunch periods in the math/science magnet program help rooms, talking to younger students about math or physics problems. From there, it became a regular occurrence that I would help my friends with their math issues whenever they got stuck, and eventually grew into this business.

Beyond my experience as a private tutor, I also have exposure to teaching in a classroom setting. At UMD, I student-taught a math course in 3 different semesters and served as a teaching assistant for introductory Calculus I and II during my senior year. I will also be a teaching assistant for most of my semesters at UT.

I consider myself to be an expert in any high school or lower-level undergraduate math. I have also tutored many more advanced subjects (such as real analysis, abstract algebra, topology) at the undergraduate and graduate level. For more information regarding my expertise for particular advanced topics, reach out to me.

Past students have consistently praised my ability to break down difficult problems into manageable pieces. For students struggling to grasp concepts, I help by making problems easy to understand and concrete before tackling complex, abstract ideas. I am patient, understanding, and truly want to see students thrive. My approach to teaching has instilled greater confidence in my students regarding their ability to understand and solve difficult problems, and I am confident I can help any student find success. Feel free to contact me for more information or to set up a tutoring session.

Calculus,

Calculus

Calculus is the subject I feel most comfortable tutoring. I have been a TA for introductory calculus at both UMD and UT Austin, and it is the subject I have tutored privately the most. I also have lots of experience with more advanced subjects in this area, such as multivariable calculus, differential equations, advanced calculus, complex analysis, and real analysis. In particular, I have passed PhD qualifying exams in both real and complex analysis.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I earned an 800 (out of 800) on the SAT Math section, as well as SAT Math 2 and Physics subject tests.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I have experience in courses involving both ordinary and partial differential equations. In particular, I feel especially comfortable with the theoretical background of the subject due in large part to my knowledge of advanced calculus and real analysis.
Discrete Math,

Discrete Math

Discrete math is one of the subjects I tutor most frequently. I have extensive experience with the subject, particularly as it relates to basic number theory, combinatorics, graph theory, logic, proof writing, and set theory. These concepts are fundamental throughout all of advanced mathematics, and thus have arisen often in my studies. In addition, I taught a course in the UMD math department on number theory and combinatorics.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

I have extensive experience with linear algebra, particularly regarding the theory of the subject. It is one of subjects I tutor more frequently, and shows up in some way in most of the advanced subjects I tutor. Linear algebra is one of the most fundamental subjects for the sake of advanced math, and thus has remained an important component of almost every advanced math course I have completed. In particular, I have passed a PhD qualifying exam in abstract algebra, with linear algebra an important component of that exam.
Logic,

Logic

Mathematical logic is of the utmost importance for all advanced study in math, and thus throughout my studies has become one of the subjects I am most experienced with. In particular, I am intimately familiar with propositional and predicate logic, as well as proof writing and set theory. These topics have been the primary subject of a number of the courses I've completed.

Very awesome tutor!

I had Aaron B. for elementary analysis. Elementary analysis is a very abstract high level math course. He made the abstract math concepts easier to understand by drawing out graphs. He is very well spoken and breaks down hard concepts very well. He explains things at a perfect rate, and makes learning fun! I would highly recommend him as a tutor!

Best investment for your mathematical needs

I have taken two, 2 hour sessions with Aaron, and in this short time, his knowledge of Real Analysis has been crucial in my understanding and development of the subject to advance further. I understand him so much better than my own professor. I will definitely be contacting Aaron for his help again. Invest your time with Aaron for your mathematical needs.

Knowledgeable and Excellent Calculus Tutor

Aaron is the best Multivariable Calculus tutor who is knowledgeable and patient. He explains the complicated concept in simple terms which helps my high school senior understand the definition. Aaron also prepares well for his session and brings some practice problems. Highly recommend Aaron to anyone who needs help with Multivariable calculus. Thanks, Aaron.

Extremely knowledgeable and patient tutor

Aaron helps me in Calculus as well as studying for the SAT Math and the SAT Math 2 Subject Test. He is extremely knowledgeable and can easily simplify explanations in a way that they easily make sense. He showed me different ways that I could solve calculus problems and how to look at the problem from a different perspective. I would always feel more confident after each session.
