About Carol

Bio

Enthusiastic educator who understands the learning process and designs sessions with the student's needs and special requests. While learning is important, more important is to develop curiosity and a love of learning.

My experience includes teaching 7th grade, 9th grade, 12th grade and 12 years in higher education, mostly English classes. What I love about tutoring is discovering the answers together, having fun in the process, and being delighted with the outcome.

I have taught English for freshmen in college; business communications; and technical writing. All of these courses required instructions in grammar and syntax. My masters is in English with a major in screenwriting. I have taught literature and various writing genres such as short story, play, and novels. I have great love and respect for literature that has inspired me in my own studies.

My doctorate is in aesthetic education and technology, which means I studied art history and what inspired people and how art affected cultures and people. Then I studied how technology is affecting art and developing a new art history. Specifically, I studied what happened when looking at art in smart technology--cell phones.

In addition, I have worked in fiber arts, which includes tapestries, quilts, weaving, embroidering, and much more.

If you like mixing things up and having fun, I'm your tutor. In other words, we don't just study one subject like grammar, we look at the subject in science, engineering, technology, math, history, and art. I'm interested in what you are curious about and helping you learn some tricks to understanding how you learn. These will go with you throughout your life enhancing curiosity, amazement, and your knowledge.

Beside my masters in creative writing, I have studied under national screenwriters in Los Angeles, Santa Fe, Austin, and New York. I was a semi-finalist in the Final Draft competition and am a reader with the Austin Film Festival. I have won other writing awards, but prefer screenwriting for a creative outlet.
