How dependent is your business on Microsoft Office and how comfortable are you maximizing its benefits?

Hi there, my name is Yves (pronounce Eve); I have a Master's degree in chemical engineering from ESCOM University, in Paris, France, with 25 years experience in operations, sales, supply chain and financial planning; I operate today as an independent consultant across business functions and tutoring has become my passion.

For undergrad, grad and MBA students, I tutor data analytics (linear programming and optimization models, decision trees, simulations, Markov chains), statistics (probability distributions, hypothesis testing, regressions and ANOVA), and operations management (supply chain, PERT, CPM, inventory management, time series forecasts, control charts, SPC and queuing models).

For business professionals, I help advance your Excel skills and optimize your data files; whether you need to impress your CFO/CEO with new dashboards or reports, free up some time by automating your activities through VBA macros, or simply learn how to best use Excel in your daily routine, I am here to help. I am certified MOS Excel Expert (2013 and 2016) and teach Excel for beginners, intermediate and advanced users on Mac or PC.

Microsoft Excel,

Microsoft Excel

Certified MOS Excel Expert in the Austin area, and Excel developer, I teach Excel from intermediate to advanced level, including Excel VBA, Power Query, Power Pivot; I can help with any Excel version (2010, 2013, 2016 and Excel 365) on Mac or PC. With over 25 years experience using Microsoft Excel, I help business professionals, college undergrad, grad and MBA students improve their Excel skills, and maximize its benefits. As an independent consultant, I assist managers and executives on their job, as well as in between jobs helping them prepare for their upcoming Excel interview. I will help you take out the pain of managing large complicated data files, create customized dashboards your C-level will love, streamline your operations, while saving you time and money. I have experience managing databases for finance, accounting, supply chain, operations, and HR. I have helped companies reduce their accounting month-end closing times by over 95%, reduce budget timelines by over 80%, reverse-engineer and simplify over-complicated spreadsheets, and much more. For college students, I tutor data analytics, supply chain and business modeling: linear programming (optimization problems in Solver), decision trees, Monte Carlo simulations directly in Excel; I also support add-in applications such as Crystal Ball, Frontline Solver or @Risk Palisade. Additionally, I tutor statistics, probability at college grad level.
Project Management

Project Management

With over 25 years experience in supply chain and consulting industry, I help students gain confidence in their project and operations management classes; I can assist with agile vs waterfall, PERT, CPM, Gantt and burn-down charts, as well as with supply chain models such as MRP, BOM, EOQ, capacity planning (level, chase, etc.). Additionally, I tutor related subjects such as statistics and data analytics. While all my tutoring is done in Excel, I can support students with different software packages.

Visual Basic

Visual Basic

Are you ready to take your Excel skills to the next level? If so, then VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) is for you. VBA allows you to code macros and run predefined routines on your reports, create dashboards and more. VBA is all about minimizing input and maximizing output. And VBA can be fun too: for the adventurous, why not trying to create a Sudoku solver or a tic-tac-toe game?! Hi, my name is Yves; I am an independent business consultant in Austin, TX specialized in finance and supply chain. I help companies streamline their operations by reducing dramatically time to create their reports. I have learned VBA as most people have: on the job. Over the course of my career, I have had to create reports, manipulate large data sets, some times daily. Very quickly, I learned the VBA was going to be my friend. While coding involves a little upfront investment, the returns can be substantial; I have been able to achieve productivity gains of over 1000% with VBA, i.e. freeing up 90% of my time for more strategic projects. Today, I continue to enjoy coding and look forward to sharing my learnings. With me, you will learn basic elements of coding, variables, inputs, outputs, If statements, loops, importing and exporting data, how to create reports, etc. While I work primarily in Excel, the VBA language is compatible across all MS products (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). VBA is a journey; there is always more to learn daily; so be patient with yourself, and most importantly have fun!

Statistics

Statistics

As a chemical engineer, I have a knack for numbers. However, in my grad stats college class, statistics were considered an obscure math subject for researchers. I found them both boring and frustrating. I had a hard time understanding the practical applications of statistics. It is only late that I was able to associate the importance of data analysis with business decisions. Fortunately, class syllabi have also evolved to address more practical business situations, and software applications have made solving these problems a lot easier. Today, I help students with their statistics and data analytics courses. I can help with quantitative and qualitative statistics (statistical tests for means and variances, regressions), both parametric and non-parametric, as well as less common statistical tests such as normality tests or post-hoc tests. All my tutoring is in Excel; I can support students who are working with other applications. The world of statistics is a true wonder and a never-ending learning experience.

Math

Biostatistics,

Biostatistics

As a chemical engineer, I have always had knack for numbers. Professionally, I use basic statistics on a regular basis (forecast, budget, data analysis, statistical process control). In college, back in the day, I had a hard time understanding the practical applications of statistics. It is only late that I was able to associate the importance of data analytics with business decisions. Statistics applied to the public health sector are of huge and growing importance. You see everyday claims made about the efficacy of a certain drug or the results obtained by a certain test group. I help students in their biostatistics class understand not only the various statistical tests and methodology but also how to interpret results. Classic assignments you will face are hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regressions and correlations. The world of statistics is a true wonder and a never-ending learning experience. I continue to learn and study daily. Visit my Wyzant blog for some free tips. I hope to instill some of my enthusiasm to my students.
Probability,

Probability

Probability is the foundation of statistics, and it is a true wonder that some of the greatest brains were able to decode some of its laws more than 500 years ago; tutoring both probability and statistics, I help students navigate through the various laws of probability (additive rule, independent and dependent events, conditional probability which extends to Bayes' theorem and the Simpson's paradox). I will help you build a probability table and show how easy conditional probability questions can be solved using it. We will study combinations and permutations and see how relevant Pascal's triangle is. Probability can be fun!

Personable, Honorable, and Qualified

I have no words to describe how acquitted this tutor is. He can conquer any problem in a timely manner. I can not stress this enough he is here to help not here to be paid. He is a qualified, personable tutor that can overcome arduous problems. I needed help with an assignment that required me to automate data on excel. We used Power Queries, VBA, and excel functions. Not only did he know how to teach the assignment, but also tutored me to create additional functions that I recommended. If you need a tutor this is your tutor. Yves is time managed, adaptable, communicative, driven, respectful, and approachable.

Tutor responded:

Phil, great to work with you on your data analytics class. You are a strong and fast learner.

Incredible tutor, he is a genius

I’m a PhD engineering student working through a linear programming class that I realized pretty quickly was moving too fast for my comprehension. Yves is extraordinarily thorough and understands the material just as if it were simple mathematics (which of course it’s not, it’s quite complex). He’s able to easily explain where I have gaps and works through problems with me step by step. I hope to work with him throughout the semester. Worth every penny and I highly, highly recommend!! You will not be disappointed.

Noel, 9 lessons with Yves
Tutor responded:

Thank you very much Noel. Much appreciated! I look forward to continuing working with you. Kind regards. Yves

Exceeded expectations

Yves is an expert in database management, Excel and Financial dashboards used for reporting to stakeholders and clients. He is also a skilled teacher with an ability to drill down to core concepts and ideas. I cannot recommend Yves highly enough!

Julie, 4 lessons with Yves
