##### About Corine

I've been teaching high school level science for over 11 years in Austin ISD. I love finding ways to bring challenging content to students. I am an expert at breaking down highly technical information and helping students find what it important. I'm also an instructional coach, so I also help other teachers connect to their students. This gives me an advantage because I have a deep understanding of what students need to learn.

Recently, I have become a math instructional coach. While my college degree is not in math, I earned credit for college level calculus during my undergraduate experience. I am confident I can teach pre-algebra and below, and am planning to certified in math 4-8, but the end of 2016.

I feel that I am an excellent math tutor because I am not a math professional, yet I understand math very well. Math teachers tend to be more analytical than the average student has the capacity for. I keep the goal in mind, finding what students truly need to be successful. I don't believe in distractions or excess information. Students need clear instructions and guidance in order to be successful.

My undergraduate degree is in botany. I am confident in high school level biology and some other sciences. I have taught biology for high schoolers since 2005. I am also an instructional coach to other biology teachers. This means that not only can I support my own students, I also work to help other teachers connect to theirs.

I have been working with the STAAR test since Texas switched from TAKS. Any STAAR tested subject is one I feel confident tutoring in. I have been an instructional coach for 8 years and in that time, I have worked with each core area to find ways to bring the test to the students. I've taken each EOC test, and I understand what it takes to be successful on them.

The majority of work from Kindergarten through 6th grade is based on reading comprehension and arithmetic. My work teaching at the high school level has prepared me well to help any student in the foundational courses build up to 7th-12th grades.

I look forward to hearing from you! If you find that other tutors or teachers don't help you, it is because of them, not you. Teaching is an art and a practiced skill. It takes many years to develop the right techniques and I have the practice that will help you. My 12 years of experience teaching students with varied backgrounds, including GT, ESL/ELL, 504, special education, Title I, and college-level, makes me the best candidate for tutoring you!
