I've been teaching for 13+ years in Austin ISD. I taught high school science for 12 years and I am currently teaching middle school math. I love finding ways to bring challenging content to students. I am an expert at breaking down highly technical information and helping students find what is important. I have also been an instructional coach, so I have helped other teachers connect to their students. This gives me an advantage because I have a deep understanding of what students need to...

I am an expert at breaking down highly technical information and helping students find what is important. This gives me an advantage because I have a deep understanding of what students need to learn and the best ways to reach them.
I graduated from UT Austin with a BS in botany, minoring in chemistry. I feel quite confident tutoring freshman and sophomore level courses in biology or chemistry. I taught a dual credit chemistry course for non-science majors for 6 years while teaching in a Texas high school.
I feel that I am an excellent math and science tutor because I keep a global perspective on details. Math and science teachers tend to be more analytical than the average student has the capacity for. I keep the goal in mind, finding what students truly need to know in order to be successful. I don't emphasize distractions or excess information. Students need clear instructions and guidance in order to be successful.
I have been working with the STAAR test since Texas switched from TAKS. Any STAAR tested subject is one I feel confident tutoring in. I was an instructional coach for 8 years and in that time, I worked with each core area to find ways to bring the test to the students. I've taken each EOC test, and I understand what it takes to be successful on them.
The majority of work from Kindergarten through 6th grade is based on reading comprehension and arithmetic. My work teaching at the high school level has prepared me well to help any student in the foundational courses that build up to 7th-12th grades.
I look forward to hearing from you! If you find that other tutors or teachers don't help you, it is because of them, not you. Teaching is an art and a practiced skill. It takes many years to develop the right techniques and I have the practice that will help you. My 12+ years of experience teaching students with varied backgrounds, including GT, ESL/ELL, 504, special education, Title I, and college-level, makes me the best candidate for tutoring you!
