Hello! I am a highly motivated tutor with many years of experience tutoring at the high school and college level for various subjects within science, mathematics and engineering. From around 2007 - 2010, I tutored at a small university and then was able to continue teaching classes during my graduate studies at the University of Texas Austin from 2010 - 2015. The specific classes that I have taught previously include: SAT preparations, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, PDEs, statistics, physics, chemistry, and various mechanical engineering courses that are mostly related to physics.

During this time, I was able to help many students succeed to obtain their goals either to get into a good college by having great SAT scores, or by passing the difficult science classes needed to obtain their bachelors degrees. My motivations come from hearing the success stories and developing a friendship with the students to see them obtain their dreams. Making these subjects fun to learn and providing the right motivation behind why we should learn these subjects or solve a certain math problem are the things that I love about tutoring. When the right story is told or the historical significance of a particular problem is discussed, then these subjects become much more exciting, which is the key to being successful. I hope that the future will bring many more of these stories!

In addition to my tutoring experience, I have written various peer reviewed journal papers, masters thesis, and doctoral dissertation in mechanical engineering, so I can help in English classes or any type of writing help.

Thanks for the consideration and hope to hear from you soon!

Alexander B. Ph.D.

Computer

MATLAB,

MATLAB

I have been using Matlab since 2005 in many classes within mechanical engineering. Also, I have used in in my graduate research. What I do with Matlab is develop codes to analyze data, simulate differential equations from physics models, and visualization with GUIs. It is essential to most engineering work to be able to code in Matlab or another high level programming language such as Python.
Microsoft Outlook,

Microsoft Outlook

I have used Outlook for many years in a work environment. I am able to set up complex automatic sorting of emails. Also, I can use video conferencing and many other advanced features.

Math

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I have taken differential equations in undergraduate and in graduate mathematics courses. In my current work, I am simulating differential equations that are derived from physics models in order to understand the behavior of systems. I am able to derive analytical solutions to these equations and to solve them numerically if no solution exists.
Discrete Math,

Discrete Math

I have many classroom experiences in disrete math which include fitting finite difference equations, frequency domain analysis, autoregression modeling, and digital control theory. In my work, I deal with data all the time, and the models have to be discrete due to the digital nature of the data. Turning continuous equations into discrete ones is a common problem.
Electrical Engineering,

Electrical Engineering

I have been studying many different electrical engineering course within my mechanical curriculum since 2004 and currently am working in the semiconductor manufacturing industry dealing with many electrical principles. I have a taught control laboratory for 3 years which deal with electrical principles such a circuit design, sensors and data collection. I also worked on television transmitters in the past.
Finite Math,

Finite Math

In my past tutoring experience, this class was a common one for undergraduate students. They would need this single math class to graduate. There were many cases where I saved the students from having to repeat the course because I motivated them to learn this subject.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

I have taken a class on Linear algebra in undergraduate and in graduate school. Also, many classes in control theory that I took had linear algebra as the basis. Most of the data analysis that I do currently rely on matrix manipulations and concepts first taught in linear algebra class.

Mechanical Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering

I have been studying mechanical engineering since 2004 and currently am working as a mechanical engineer in industry. I have a doctorate in mechanical engineering and have written many peer reviewed conference and journal papers to engineering sources. Also, I taught mechanical engineering control laboratory for 3 years in graduate school.

Tennis

Tennis

I have played in many USTA tennis tournaments in high school and as an adult during college. In high school, I was able to make it to the championship level by winning a zone advancement tournament. I have taken many years of private and group tennis lessons in Texas and have some small experience teaching friends. I know many drills and basics for developing tennis skills and feel that I would be a great teacher for this sport.
