About Deborah

Greetings! My name is Deborah S. To share a bit about myself, my undergraduate degree is from Brown University where I double-majored in International Relations and Africana Studies. After graduation, I honed my skills by spending a year teaching English as a Foreign Language in South Korea. When I returned to the states, I continued teaching English to adults while preparing to take the LSAT. At that time, I also tutored for the SAT and ACT tests, helping high school students improve by as much as 200 points on the SAT. In addition, I helped students find their voices in order to craft their best admissions essays, helping students get admission and scholarship monies to prestigious schools.

The keys to my LSAT preparations were taking the time to understand concepts in depth and practicing the necessary skills daily. Ultimately, I scored in the 96th percentile! If your desire is to attend a highly ranked law school, I am the best option for you.

Tutoring, for me, is challenging yet very rewarding. I honestly love thinking of how to make difficult concepts accessible to everyone and helping others achieve their goals. I aim to make logic easier to understand by providing interesting or funny illustrations. I have a wealth of original exercises intended to help students drill particular and hard-to-practice LSAT skills. This will be a great advantage over other students who may be simply taking practice test after practice test without making the specific improvements necessary to actually improve. Rather than taking multiple tests and hoping for improvement, it is more beneficial to practice specific skills or study what is necessary, such as logical flaw types, reading strategies, logic game types and set-ups, diagramming techniques, and more.

Rest assured that I am a consistently professional and patient tutor, no matter what level at which you are beginning. I am open to any questions you may have, so please feel free to send a message!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
