About Hasan

I do not have any prior paid experience in tutoring, however I have done an extensive amount of volunteer tutoring in high school and in my first year of college where I tutored high schoolers in math. However, I am currently primarily interested in tutoring organic chemistry as I feel that I have a very strong grasp on the subject and have been successful at helping classmates and friends with it in the past. I can also help with biochemistry if that is what you are looking for.

So in short, I have no formal paid experience, but I think that I will get the job done and will help you understand organic chemistry so that you are not memorizing and have a deeper understanding of the subject.

Have a very good understanding of both subjects and received very high A's in both subjects at UT Austin. I took Organic Chemistry I for Chemistry majors (328M) with Dr. Krische and Organic Chemistry II (320N) with Dr. Anslyn. I took Foundations of Biochemistry for Biochemistry majors (339F) with Dr. Robertus. I feel that taking the majors version of courses has given me a deeper understanding of both subjects and will prove useful if I am your tutor.

Feel free to email me a if you are interested in receiving organic chemistry and/or biochemistry tutoring.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Organic Chemistry

I took Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 at UT Austin during Fall 2014 and Spring 2015, respectively. I earned very high A's (>95) for both Organic Chemistry 1 and 2. I took the Chemistry majors' version of Organic Chemistry 1 and I believe that this will make me a better tutor as it gave me a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of organic chemistry. I think that the combination of my deep understanding of organic chemistry and my recent completion of the subject make me a good option for tutoring the subject. In tutoring the subject I will focus on teaching principles of why certain steps in reactions occur the way they do as opposed to what those steps are in order to give you a more conceptually based understanding of organic chemistry as opposed to one based primarily on memorization. There will also be an emphasis on teaching general principles so that you may apply what you learn to many situations. I also understand that for certain parts of organic chemistry (e.g. nomenclature), memorization is necessary. For these parts, I will try my best to give you tips on how to memorize what you need to know.
