I'm a certified bilingual teacher in the state of Texas, where I have taught for 11 years. My experience includes teaching self-contained grades K-4 for bilingual and ESL students. During these years, I also tutored during after school hours. I have special skills for teaching Math, reading and Science to young students. I developed the needed skills to prepare my students to take the State test, STAAR. I'm currently completing a Master in Arts of Counseling. I love to help my students realize that they can be successful and achieve whatever they set their hearts to do.
During my years as a teacher, I received specialized training to develop reading skills in the different proficiency stages of my students. I taught reading each one of those 11 years and was responsible for the success of my students.
I've taught STAAR Reading and Math for 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Science and Writing for 4th grade. I've tutored Reading, Math and Science for 5th grade. As a teacher I consistently exceeded the expectations of my campus and learning community.
What makes me an outstanding Elementary Education tutor is my commitment with the academic success of my students, 11 years of experience as a Certified Texas Teacher and the depth I bring into my teaching.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a Certified Texas teacher (bilingual and ESL) with 11 years of experience teaching elementary school. I have taught and tutor all STAAR test subjects 3-6, and know that even though grades K-2 do not have a STAAR test, the skills required to become proficient in these tests begin to be instilled since very early grades.
I believe the best way to teach a student is to identify their proficiency level, strengths and areas of growth, compared to the grade level academic expectation. I will use the Texas Education Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), published by the Texas Education Agency to drive my instruction. Also, I will use previous year STAAR tests and proven teaching material to support my student in in achieving academic success.
