I have taught in a variety of academic settings and feel that my background and skill set are uniquely qualified for helping students learn. From the reservations of Southern Arizona to South Compton in Los Angeles and Cairo to China, I know that education is a dynamic process that requires a teacher who understands factors beyond simply learning in order to help students learn. I love tutoring because it gives me a chance to focus on one subject with one student. This approach to teaching allows me the ability to determine the best path to one's understanding of any given subject matter.
I have a K-8 elementary certification and have tutored on reservations in Arizona, have worked with autistic children, have worked in Los Angeles, Egypt and China. Always teaching Language Arts and Reading I feel confident in my profile and ability. Also, I hold an ESL endorsement and feel confident in my training.
I am certified in all subjects K-8. I have maintained awareness in Common Core requirements through professional development both within and outside the United States. I have been particularly interested in literacy cohorts in the interest of helping students address concepts of critical thinking.
My approach to drawing is related to shapes, proportions and shading (or light). Geometry and the understanding of space as well as color are also helpful when thinking about compositions. I have been an artist all my life and enjoy painting, drawing and other forms of art.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been painting and drawing since the age of three. My art speaks for itself, but more importantly I can help people learn to draw based on concepts of light and shapes. For instance, to draw a horse, you need to begin with three circles for the body, candlesticks for the legs and a triangle for the head. This method creates what is known as "conformation".
I have tutored students on the reservations in Arizona as well as students in affluent neighborhoods in Tucson and Los Angeles. Having a certification for all subjects K-8 and international experience gives me a dynamic perspective. My resume shows a variety of educational settings that reinforce my confidence in my ability to help students learn.
