Hello! You are here because someone you know needs an extra boost of learning and I am here to help! I love learning. I have always been fascinated with everything. This is why I chose to be a nanny and work with kids for the past 10 years. I also traveled overseas to teach in Nepal. That was a life changing experience in many ways and it led me back to America to get my Masters in Education. I am now a 4th grade ELAR/SS teacher who is passionate about learning, teaching and creativity!
I have many different approaches for teaching reading, writing and all other ELAR topics. Whatever I am teaching, I love to teach it in a creative and fun way. I believe that kids are kids and they learn through play. This doesn't stop when they get old enough to go to school. I love teaching kids reading through stuff that they are actually interested in. I love helping kids discover their world through reading, writing and technology.
I am qualified in teaching English as a Second Language, Grammar, Literature, Reading and Writing to kids ages 4-12. Some of the techniques I use are the Bernabei Grammar Tools, Cloze Reading, Writing with Passion, Project Based Learning, Product Based Learning, Raz Kids, Readers Theater, Literature Circles, Book/genre/author studies and more!
I would love the opportunity to teach and learn with your child! I would also love to help them love learning as much as I do! I hope you will consider me with searching for the perfect tutor for your growing child! Hello! You are here because someone you know needs an extra boost of learning and I am here to help! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have 1 year of experience teaching fourth grade.
I also have 2-3 of substitute teaching in all grade levels k-5.
I have also spent 10 years taking care of elementary-aged children as a nanny.
I have a Masters of Education. I took classes specifically teaching me how to teach phonics to children, including phonetic awareness, letter-name alphabetic, Words Their Way and other phonics systems.
