About Tavita

**UPDATE**
I am new to the Austin area and am looking to tutor 1 or 2 students (primarily on the weekends but once or twice a during the week is possible too) in introductory physics. I have had tremendous success tutoring for this class and helping motivated students get the grade they want.

**BIO**
I hold a B.S. in physics and a minor in mathematics from the University of Arizona, but my biggest strength in tutoring is the wealth of experience I have. I've tutored very many people, across many different age ranges. Whether it's been through the University of Arizona (I was part of the Tutoring in the Schools program, and I have preceptored twice for physics), or the private tutoring I've done, I understand that people think about things differently, and that both math and physics can seem daunting. In the Tutoring in the Schools program, I tutored algebra for 5th and 6th graders several hours a week, in class at two different schools. I have preceptored for Physics 102 and 141, algebra and calculus based introductory physics, and I have tutored for Trig and Calculus privately.

I love physics and math, but I understand that you may not. My approach to tutoring largely depends on you. I will explain things slowly, clearly, and in many different ways. For many of the classes I tutor, I know where students tend to get confused and will spend extra time as needed. Further, I will recognize whether you need to know something deeply, or if we just need to prepare you for a test and move on.

I encourage you to contact me!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Patient, respectful, knowledgeable tutor! — We reviewed friction, 1D kinematics, 2D kinematics, and did some challenging homework problems. Before this session I knew next to nothing about friction, but after an hour I was more than caught up and taught my other friends how to do the friction problems. He taught me a procedure for going through the problem, and he aids you in your own learning rather than just reciting concepts to you. Phe ...
