Loyola University, New Orleans (English)
In the last six years, I have tutored dozens of middle school, high school, and college age students in Math, English, GED prep, and SAT/ACT prep. My mission as a tutor is to relate to students on a personal level in the hope of instilling in them the love of learning that I hold. I believe that anyone is capable of learning any material, if only they can find the right way to relate to the information.
I attended Loyola University New Orleans and graduated with a BA in English with a concentration in Writing. At Loyola, I held several writing internships and was a Dean's List student.
For the last year and a half, I have been tutoring students in GED prep at a facility for troubled youth in Arizona. I started, designed, and taught the class, and I am proud to say that I helped dozens of students prepare for and receive their GED.
I have a passion for seeing students find the confidence in themselves that will ultimately enable them to cultivate an attitude that will push them to continue to succeed.
I love teaching students the fundamentals of using variables, and I am adept at teaching the math requirements found on the SAT and ACT. While in school, I excelled in math and took Honors Calculus my first semester in college. I have tutored this subject for at least six years.
I have wide availability all summer for test prep or for students looking to get ahead for next year. I am excited to hear from you and get started learning together. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
