Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Illustrator

I have used Illustrator for 20 years, taught on grants and successfully taught over 900 students and counting.

Adobe InDesign

I started using Pagemaker in the 90's.
I went to Quark and came back to Adobe as my clients switched over during the first decade of the 2000's.
As an art director/advertising guy, I've been working with Adobe InDesign for over 10 years now. I am not a master of the program, but I have put catalogs, advertisements, and sales brochures together in it, sent them out to a printer, and got back what I sent.

Adobe Photoshop

I'm a photoshop pro - using it for professional packaging logo creation GUI design product development and digital illustration. I've used the software since 1991 received grants to teach at one point of my career.

Drawing

I am a traditionally trained (now digital) illustrator.
I continue to take classes, and as of winter 2015, took a drawing II course at the local college to refresh myself.

I practice painting, digitally now, combining traditional techniques with the computer to create results like never before.

I was named 'NEW MILLENNIAL ARTIST' for my digital painting works by the Detroit Artist Market back in 1999. I never stopped painting, because it gives me an advantage over other designers who are stuck using photography as their only means of artwork.

General Computer

My first computer was a mac, in the late 1980's. I took some programming in school, hated it, I'm a graphics guy. I'm spent 20 years working on apple and pc computers jumping back and forth as needed. I've worked with word and other programs like google docs (same as word) producing proposals and work with dozens of graphic software programs to produce advertising and video for clients around the country.
I tutor, because I like it, and it's a way to keep sharp, the questions students ask may not come up in the office, but they are all relevant.

Graphic Design

I hold two advanced degrees in graphic communication/design, a BFA and AA.

I have since 1991 been working in graphic design providing print, web, interactive and virtual reality development for companies like MARY MAXIM'S INC FORD GM DURR.

My design work adorns skateboards, snowboards, magazine covers and backs, inserts and mailers.

I ran a clothing company and currently am a graphic design consultant for a political PR firm in Texas.

I am sought out for logos, rebranding, and package design in addition to my other skills.

I am a graphic designer, from typography to art direction to digital illustration.

Marketing

SEO Branding, Metrics, and long term advertising strategy are easier for me than a straight design person, and I took 3 years of marketing before changing my majors.

Since then, I've worked to take companies IPO, increased brand sales for a 16 million dollar clothing company, taken two of my companies from concept to market and worked everywhere from Detroit to Paris.

Being able to identify a market and if your product or idea is going to get you where you need to go, isn't just books in a classroom, it's on the ground experience and after 20 years as an creative, I've got that in droves.

I can help identify a niche, or a flooded market, how best to leverage you product or idea against an already existing market and even help find mfg companies to get your products made. All of it takes planning, and studying and knowing where you are in the marketplace.
I can help with that.

Photography

I am an avid photographer, digital and traditional.
I am almost exclusively Canon orientated for my production work. I just spent 5 years running a clothing company and putting together modeling competitions, ad shoots, for pre and post production work.
I spent 7 years photographing techno DJs around the world, and my work has appeared in magazines and newspapers as ads, and PR shots.
I started photographing things when I was 10. I am 46 now.
I have 'some' background in it.
I work in studio and outside for live shot photography.

Public Speaking

I was a licensed radio DJ back in 1996-2001. I am a corporate pitch man for the advertising agencies, clients and companies I worked for in the past. As an art director, I am in front of people everyday, selling myself, my skills, and my abilities.

I know what it takes, when you are in a room of 100 strangers, to go press hands and make the introduction.

I love a great debate, and arguing is not debate. Advertising pitches are a debate, selling clients, and making them see what you are selling is possible. I understand how to maintain a constant speaking voice, vs a rushed, voice from being uncomfortable and speaking too fast.

I offer to help people do these things with their public speaking.

Video Production

I've run my own TV show, working here in NM with a local television station. The show required I video, edit, and even at times play host.

I've shot video and edited video for Economic Development and the RIO RANCHO 30th anniversary history celebration here in NM back in 2012-2013.

I come to you as an art director, part of my training was pre and post video production. I plan commercials from storyboards, then hire the people I need to make it happen for clients like CHRYSLER, and others.

I am able to edit audio, video, and prep it all for the web.
